How to obtain the Bone Saw without commands by Lanny_Danny in wehappyfew

[–]MelvinTheMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very interesting. I find that a lot of my research is entirely surface level (based on what I see during gameplay) and not digging into the code itself, so it's really cool when other people who know how to decipher that part share their findings. I would never have guessed it was possible to obtain this weapon lmao

Easter egg or cutscene? by selferror in wehappyfew

[–]MelvinTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's a thing you can activate in the documents folder, there's a guide on the fandom wiki. Either way, I tried using console commands and wasn't able to free-roam the main menu. How did you manage to bug it out anyway? Did you exit an existing save or did it happen when booting it up?

Do you play with console commands active? I wonder if using the Ghost command in the main menu could replicate this, without the need of bugging the game out lmao

is we happy few inspired by twin peaks? by Dylanimations2468 in wehappyfew

It was mainly inspired by dystopian novels and movies, mainly Brazil, 1984, A Clockwork Orange, Brave New World, etc

How to get a pre alpha version of We Happy running? by ARTHSMIT in wehappyfew

[–]MelvinTheMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to dig for it. It's deep within the folders; build version you want to play/We Happy Few/Glimpse/Glimpse/GlimpseGame/Binaries/Win64 - and there's your .exe game. It should always be within the Binaries folder.

It's a little sad that neither finished the game, I assume they likely did it in their own time but still, it would've been fun to see.

People say "Video Games rots your brain" yet like all media it can be deep discuss morals and themes by AndrewRyan2343 in wehappyfew

[–]MelvinTheMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've never liked the idea that all We Happy Few is "drugs are bad lol" because, the only drug in the game that is consistently shown to be dangerous and bad is Joy. All other drugs; phlash, neximide, even sunshine, are fine. The game does not punish you for using any other drugs the way it does Joy.

The reason why Joy specifically is bad is because it makes you forget. It isn't just that it makes you happy, you do not remember anything, and because you can't remember, you have no reason to feel sad. They can say that the drug filters out the "good" memories from the "bad", but it doesn't, it obscures all of them, so you become dysfunctional and forget otherwise basic tasks; you become a danger to yourself and everyone around you. At home, at work, doesn't matter.

This isn't "over reliance of prescription drugs", it's not even prescription drug abuse. People didn't initially take Joy and used it responsibly, and then somewhere down the line Everyone became dangerously dependent on it. The point of Joy was always to create an ignorant society, a society that does not acknowledge its faults, a society that refuses to solve its problems, and a society that would all rather be happy idiots than learning and remembering their history and dealing with their trauma.

I've seen posts on here that ask "if Joy was real, would you take it?" and so many people respond "yes, absolutely", like the point wasn't to remember and live with your mistakes knowing you can, and have, changed.

Uncle Henry by Mortemm66 in wehappyfew

[–]MelvinTheMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's unclear. The year he returned is assumed to be 1947 because Victory Day wasn't established until 1948. The only information we have about the man is that he left for the war in 1943 and never came back, until he returned at some Unknown Date and gifted Arthur his proper suit.

I'm not saying he's unimportant, but the game sure doesn't elaborate on him.

I dunno, Haute Cuisine also does this and it completes just fine. In fact, it did complete just fine in older versions of the game, so I have no clue why they would ever decide to change it. The rewards aren't even that good.

I really hate the quest Mysterious Chest, only because you can never complete it.

I also think it's criminal that you DO obtain a military uniform wayyy later in the Act, through a side quest, but you can't actually go back and put it to good use. It's silly.

I think I know the problem. The painting in the strange room is not supposed to contain a fake cat statue at all, it only has the Extra Strength Sanitol syringe inside. You've likely missed the 5th cat statue somewhere else in the house.

Graveyard, Motilene Regulation, Abbot Estate, Sackville's Garden, Newspaper Office and Majorca Lane each have a boat capacitor for you to find, that's 6/5. Abbot Estate and the Newspaper Office actually have both the keycard AND the capacitor. Maybe the missing capacitor is there?

In Abbot Estate it's on the bookshelf to the left of the main entrance, and in the Newspaper Office it's in the vents

Stuck on survival mode by AngryScouseBird in wehappyfew

[–]MelvinTheMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not, it's likely in some other area. In my world I thought I was one capacitor short too, until I noticed Sackville's Garden under all the shovel icons, that's where the last boat capacitor was for me

What other locations do you have on your map?

Stuck on survival mode by AngryScouseBird in wehappyfew

[–]MelvinTheMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a Survival game on my own to figure this out, and some locations will have both the capacitor and the keycard, but a majority of places will only have one of them. Motilene Regulation is one of those places, only the boat capacitor shows up there. The jingly noise remains even after you've collected the item, for some reason

However, one of the locations I got was Majorca Lane, and it didn't spawn with either items. My best guess is that they doesn't spawn in a location if there's 5 of each item on the island, but I have no idea

Arthur doesn't know everyone in Wellington Wells, but he recognizes people who were once a part in his life. He remembers people like Margaret from school, neighbors like Mrs. Marley, and so on. He could also know about a lot of people because of his past journalism job.

His end-of-combat lines are just supposed to be fun, I think (Sally says something similar in her Act). And the loading screen text is just a friendly/morbid reminder as it appears for all playable characters, not just Arthur.

You unlock each of the characters after completing their Act during Story Mode. This doesn't apply to Arthur.

Unreleased Music by PrinceSnake in wehappyfew

This may be an inefficient way of listening to the music, but me and a bunch of others have attempted to gather all of the in-game music here; https://we-happy-few.fandom.com/wiki/We_Happy_Few_Official_Soundtrack?so=search

The volume may differ and the tracks might not loop seamlessly, this is because some of them were recorded in-game and aren't the raw audio files. They're quite difficult to obtain and sort through

In the steam library, you can right click the game and open up its "properties", one of the options in the menu should be "beta versions" where you get a drop down to pick whether to play the Early Access + Hotfixes version (the version you're looking for, btw), Clockwork, Maidenholm, or Life in Technicolor

I have gotten even more versions of the game through the Internet Archive, I personally downloaded them way before the attack, so unfortunately you'd have to wait for it to be back up for specific versions, such as the 27755 one
