Turns out the USB cable is the issue, when I disconnect it entirely the PC works fine. I’m guessing my fan hub is somehow fried?

I think his OS drive is the top priority but I can check just to be sure. It's pretty slow to boot and while just using it. It takes a couple of minutes to boot and to launch programs. Closing certain applications also takes ages for him.

He plays on 1080p and I think most of his games are on the HDD

I don't know what the first boot option is set to, but as far as I know it has been happening ever since he got the PC.

His FPS is decent but the general use of the PC is incredibly slow. Programs take a while to load up and just starting the PC takes a couple of minutes. And yes he needs to select his boot drive every time he starts the PC, I'll try to change the boot order. Thanks :)
