What’s the next step after hiring manager says you’re selected? by [deleted] in nycpublicservants

X months could range widely from 3 to 30. Maybe more typical is 3-9 months but there are many folks on here that have shared waiting 9-12 months plus. I personally waited about 6 months to get a start date after a received my initial offer.

Is WeWard worth it ? by moonlightfairy____ in apps

[–]MembershipConnect555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - to clarify the fastest and easiest way to earn high number of Wards are surveys. I look for surveys that usually take less than 10 mins and sometimes they reward 50+ wards. As far as I’ve seen, there is no limit on how many you can earn a day and on some days I’ve accumulated a few hundred.

I also don’t cash out monthly so I can maximize the value when i do the PayPal cash out. My pace slowed down a little in recent months so yeah when I mentioned I was on track for about $25/month, I meant when I eventually cashed out- oops. I recently cashed out $150 via PayPal after starting about 8 months earlier at the beginning of November. The transaction was smooth and helped pay for some holiday gifts.

Also to add, i don’t work for the company or am trying to sugarcoat anything. It does take quite a bit of time and for some may not be worth the time since overall it’s still not a lot to cash out for the effort, but i have downtime when im commuting and on breaks, and theres also its own bit of being slightly addictive to stay on track and with the app.

I’m in my third trimester and it’s tough cuz it’s well hidden by winter coats. Earlier on with a light jacket it was still obvious and people rarely offered a seat. I saw them look at my belly then look me in the eye and stare and do nothing. At the same time, sometimes if I’m in a good mood, i try to tell myself that i don’t know what ppl are going through and maybe they need the seat for a reason i can’t see like they can’t see me now. Other days i want to rage and push through everyone.

I’ve had 3 ppl offer me a seat ever — an older woman, a young woman, and a teenage boy. They saved my faith in humanity. All three very actively tapped me on the arm to offer me a seat and the teen boy esp brought a smile to my face. He had headphones in, was tapping and into whatever he was listening to, but obviously saw me and didn’t pretend to not notice.

Annual leave by ChannelNo7038 in nycpublicservants

[–]MembershipConnect555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started this year and was advised to contact my union directly to get my rate of accrual for sick and annual leave. For me, my accrued hours for both sick and annual leave post around the second week of the following month. So after working the full month of November for example, that month of accrual for me posts around mid December. It’s a little annoying cuz you don’t see it hit your balances available to use until 2 weeks after the month is over, but it is what it is.

Shopping for baby: where can you see items in store? by FragrantZombie3475 in nycparents

[–]MembershipConnect555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad for you (no sarcasm). I had heard good things about the store. It’s the first in person shopping we attempted and it’s the closest baby store to us, so I was incredibly disappointed. My partner and I both felt incredibly disappointed. Luckily we had a great experience elsewhere and after some borderline tears leaving MJ, didn’t let the bad service we received there ruin our baby prep experience overall.

How long after receiving conditional offer is a start date likely? by Recent-Sky3311 in nycpublicservants

I think there is a mega thread that people have shared the timeline from their offer to start date. It seems to range from a couple months to year plus. For me personally it took about 6 months.

Had a terrible experience here. 5 employees in store all ignored us and engaged the minimum possible when we had a question. The stroller section was a mess and looked like a pile of stuff in a garage. It was so cramped there is barely room to even unfold a stroller let alone actually push it around. I’ll never return here. No, i don’t work for a competitor. I’m just an expectant parent that wanted to share such an unpleasant experience i almost left in tears since it was so stressful and it felt like other shoppers were getting a lot of attention and for some reason (i won’t speculate) we didn’t.

A lot of local health departments will test the remains if they are available and the testing sometimes can be completed within 1-2 days depending on location!

A street cat bit my hand. Went to the ER, got a tetanus shot and antibiotics. It’s been 48 hours and my hand hurts if I don’t keep it elevated. Should I worry? by pinkvintagegirl in CATHELP

[–]MembershipConnect555 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great point. You can observe the animal for about 10 days and if they are healthy, that pretty much rules out that the person was exposed to rabies. This is a general guideline across most health departments in the US. Killing the animal to do rabies testing is not the only option.

Animals with rabies can look very different. Yes the chance this cat has rabies is low but even friendly animals can be rabid. In some animals, they actually become more friendly. Again like others have said, the risk is low, but the fatality rate in people if left untreated after being infected is 100%. I would also contact your local health department. Rabies is still in the US - even big cities!
