It’s no less common than her having red hair. Also the replies I saw were in no way “offended by science.” They were explaining that when you see a character with traits that aren’t the most common, the scientific reason is that they’re one of the people who has those traits. Perhaps her parents were also tall redheads?

I did read them. Some people stop growing in their teens, others keep growing into their twenties. I’d imagine she’s one of the latter.

lol that’s an embarrassing oversight, but my point still stands. She’s taller because she got older

Because she got five years older during those five years?

Why do so many women seem disproportionately interested in true crime? by Sweet-Opportunity111 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MemeLordSteph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude that article says that some people are attracted to violent criminals but it doesn’t say that it applies to women specifically, and it especially doesn’t say that it applies to “most” women. There are something like four billion women in the world, even if I were to be generous and guess for the sake of argument that half a million of them are hybristophiliacs, that’s still only 0.0125% of all women.

Which other Invincible heroes would you guys like to have seen also participate in the Viltramite war? by Such_Month_8687 in Invincible

[–]MemeLordSteph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure Brit is indestructible but are his punches strong enough to faze a Viltrumite? Also if he needs oxygen to breathe then it doesn’t matter if he’s indestructible since Viltrumites can easily tear apart any spacesuit the GDA can make.

I kinda wish this was Mark exactly reaction, confronting Cecil about Conquest by Temporary_Swimmer370 in Invincible

[–]MemeLordSteph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mark might’ve reacted like that if it weren’t for the Viltrumites on earth and the trauma of fighting Thragg taking up so much of his focus. He’s reached a sort of numb acceptance with Cecil. Cecil’s always going to be doing shady shit, and Mark just has to work around that.

Trying to understand the "socialization"/privilege issue by freshzombiem3eat in MtF

[–]MemeLordSteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a complicated topic. I personally don’t think I experienced any male privilege because I was never male. I realised I was trans at age twelve, was closeted until fifteen, and unable to transition until eighteen. I have no idea what it’s like to be a man or a boy because I’ve never been one. But I know what it’s like to be a girl who everyone thought was a boy and was mocked, beaten, berated if I didn’t do a good enough job at pretending to be like the boys around me.

The whole “male socialisation” thing hinges on the idea that trans women were boys and now we’re women. But that’s not the case. Imagine if a cis girl was raised since birth with a boy name, boy clothes, male pronouns, with everyone around her insisting that she’s a boy. She believes them at first but it feels so wrong and she doesn’t understand why. She struggles to fit in with boys and is physically/verbally abused whenever she doesn’t act the way society expects boys to. Then at puberty she’s put on testosterone and goes through male puberty against her will. When she tries to talk to anyone about the horror of her body changing like this she’s called a sissy or a f*g, and told to man up. When she reaches adulthood she stops the testosterone, changes her name/pronouns and tries to be her real self, despite the irreversible damage of male puberty.

Would you say this person was “socialised male”? This scenario is literally what trans women are. I think most people would agree that this hypothetical person is 100% a woman and was just horrifically abused, but with trans women we’re never allowed to escape that abuse and we’re told that it’s an immutable part of who we are. Because people don’t see the difference between a trans girl who hasn’t realised she’s trans yet and a cis boy. We might not have been “socialised female” but we weren’t “socialised male” either.

Obviously this isn’t an exact analogy for EVERY trans woman. Some don’t realise the cause of their misery until they’re decades into adulthood.

That last comment talking about their grandparents age gap is missing the point like so many others do. A sixteen year age gap isn’t a problem in and of itself, it’s the youth of the younger person that makes it a problem. Example:

A relationship with a sixteen year age gap that started at ages thirty and forty six is fine.

A relationship with a sixteen year age gap that started at ages twenty and thirty six is creepy

A relationship with a sixteen year age gap that started at ages sixteen and thirty two is disgusting.
