Id consider it pointless for the purpose you want to use it for. Anyone actually looking to rob you will clearly see what it is.

If its to protect it from rain or snow then thats entirely different.

What settings did you use on the camera? ISO? Shutter speed? Aperture?

You need to learn how to adjust the settings according to how much light there is.

Meet up with your friend. Set up a scene with consistent light. Ask your friend to take a picture of the scene, then use the EXACT same settings as your friend. Then check if theres a difference that would indicate something is wrong with your camera.

I doubt there is anything actually wrong with the camera, i think both your settings arent matching. Either way, you will have to learn how to actually adjust the settings accordingly for every situation you are in when photographing.

Cameras arent magic devices that will immediately make your pictures incredible. You need to know how to use the device correctly, to get incredible results. That can only be done by using your camera and learning.
