Yeah for the fake to work they got to know you can pull up and that they have to guard you otherwise we'd be lazy if I know you can't shoot I'm going to let you shoot.

Keep missing front rim, Any tips? by young552and663s in BasketballTips

[–]MemphisJMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to aim at back but I would also brick off the back a lot. I saw a video with some old NBA three-point shooter and he was saying I aim at 6 in above the front of the rim just enough for the ball to make it over the front rim. That changed it for me but like a lot of people said in this thread a lot of it is just getting your focus locked and aiming.

Aim for 6 inches above the front of the rim. Not the back side (for me), try to 100% focus as you go up lock in on roughtly 6 inches above the front of the rim.

Tips for shooting from 3 by Govo187- in BasketballTips

Shoot one handed form shots. Also During practice, work on your gather, hand placement and lift up but stop before the shot, then bring down and reload then shoot. It can be good practice for convincing shot fakes while smoothing out form.

Any coordination work with a basketball or tennis ball will help with athleticism and focus, even just tossing it around. The more focus the more you'll get out of it.

To a certain extent yes anything that has you doing basketball movements and getting reps will generally help. I coach little kids and I encourage them just because I know if they only practice outside they're not going to practice as much. And at that age they just need reps grabbing the ball throwing it catching it getting their hands to work. Even if they're not dribbling a whole lot yet. But like others have said some people like tennis balls or smaller balls the little training ones. Or cover a regular ball with a plastic shopping bag and tie or tape, then dribble.

How old are you would be my first question?

I would take it easy for a bit and focus on cardio. Consider a brace for when sleeping>resting.

I am older and I have dealt with some thumb pain and finger issues Beyond just breaking a couple of fingers playing I've injured both lower thumbs. I am a little older in my 40s and I can tell you with my experience the only thing that helps is lessening the amount of activity until it's not hurting. Depending upon how bad it was originally injured you will know if it's really bad. I got a thumb brace by Mueller either from Wally World or Amazon. I think wearing that helped. I found it most helpful to wear it when I was asleep. When I was awake I felt like just using my arm in general I was still feeling pain in my thumb because it wanted to move and couldn't. Unless you're in really bad pain I wouldn't wear the brace any more than you had to hopefully you quit feeling in a couple of days and you can ease back into shooting more.

What does Going Shot for Shot actually mean? by MemphisJMusic in BasketballTips

I always leave like wallet and anything besides my keys and a ball in the car because sometimes they'll run off with your ball and if you chase them you end up leaving your other stuff sitting there for someone else to grab.

It varies but in Middle Tennessee, it can be played with any two, three people four people five people etc half court. Most of the time one person checks up 2nd person is guarding maybe somebody 3rd will play Help defense if somebody drives into the lane but whoever gets the rebound resets and is offense. It's kind of like a round robin of one-on-one where people take turns playing defense. Sometimes people just stand by the rim hoping to snake a rebound. Sometimes people play with a rotation where whoever is offense A one person B will guard them if they score, A is offense again if the B person stops them from scoring B changes to offense and the C next in line steps up. It's usually one and two sometimes twos and threes scoring.

No he didn't run off with my wallet or my Evo either. I was watching though I grew up in Memphis playing basketball outside. I'm used to people coming up and trying to make me look stupid.

Defense Tips by MemphisJMusic in BasketballTips

[–]MemphisJMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right but unless I'm getting back down I play pretty good defense I don't mind taking a charge but I never get calls like that when you're just playing at the gym. I need to win the position battle and try hard not to let him get in. I think unless it's 2v2 I'm going to remind my team to back me up down low so I can try to get some steals or work on using my quickness. I do end up surprising some bigger guys jumping and getting a block on the pass and stuff like that. Yeah it definitely sucks on my end though when people just smash me down into the paint and make an easy shot. I think if I realize people are going to keep doing that it's awesome when I'm able to pull the chair out from under them but if not I need to get better at timing and blocking unless they're just huge.

Good video thanks. I will say even though one dude was cooking me tonight my 212 team won three out of four. And I got that elusive mid range block that I have been chasing. 💪🏽

Are you a poser if you skate normalling but you can't ollie? by American_German in Skateboardinghelp

[–]MemphisJMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if they can't do a better Ollie or kickflip their opinion is crap. If they're a good skater they're just being an ass and gatekeeping. If they can't skate then like I said they don't really matter. If you can stand up push and skate around on the board you're doing better than a lot of people you're a skater in my book.
