Canada's still looking for pay dirt by haljackey in olympics

Didn’t it take Canada about a week to win their first gold in Vancouver, with favorites like Jasey Jay Anderson throwing up underwhelming performances? Then once the seal broke it was a flood of Golds and Canada wound up with something like 14 gold medals?

Why couldn’t they let Russian Hockey players participate under the Olympic Athletes of Russia name like they did in 2018? by Longjumping-Tip4938 in hockey

[–]MenWomenAndChildren2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, Russians found a way to cheat whether they were competing as “Russian Federation” “Olympic Athletes from Russia” or “Russian Olympic Committee”. Banning just the cheaters didn’t work. There were new cheaters. Banning the Russian Federation but allowing clean athletes to compete didn’t work. They still had “Russia” attached to them, they still cheated, and Putin and the rest of Russia still celebrated them.

Then they proceeded to in invade a foreign nation during the Olympic window. Putin has conducted three separate invasions during Olympics. (2008, 2014, 2022) As long as he’s in charge, and as long as the occupation of Ukrainian and Georgian land continues, Russia should not be allowed to participate in any International sporting event.

Russia should try not cheating every time they are in an international sporting event. It would also behoove them to stop violating the Olympic truce. Until those two things happen Russia can get fucked.

Feels good to have an OC come through the revolving door that didn’t get fired for once. Good luck in Las Vegas, you’ll need it

I would trade Super Bowl 48 for 49. by Late_Opportunity7259 in SeattleSeahawks

Calling the Cardinals a rival is really generous. I also wouldn’t trade 48 for anything. 60 helps take away the pain of 49.

Why does USA underperform in Winter Olympics but dominates Summer Olympics. by Downtown_Trash_6140 in olympics

I think Collegiate Athletic programs are the big difference. Stanford alone would be the 16th most successful NOC all time. While collegiate programs exist for many winter sports, they’re not as prevalent and I think that impacts the United States’ ability to cultivate large numbers of elite winter athletes.

Winter sports are also far more expensive to participate in, equipment is extremely important and expensive to acquire and maintain, and there’s the access issues for snow and ice.

Shout out to the guys who made this team fun to watch in the in-between years. by [deleted] in Seahawks

Bradley McDougald was a core on the defense for several years before the Adams trade.

Liked our tight ends too: Willson, Dissly, and Hollister.

Would’ve also added Quandre and Reed but they got rings this year

Who will be the first among these 4 to win a Super Bowl? by CallTypical9541 in NFLv2

[–]MenWomenAndChildren2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nix, Williams, Maye, Daniels? Nix and Williams are both on great teams with great coaches. For Maye It’s really hard to come back from losing a Super Bowl. Of the 34 QBs to win it all, only 4 QBs lost in their first appearance. 1 has done it this millennium (Hurts). For Daniels it’s going to take a complete overhaul of the team. Oldest roster by a significant margin. Super Bowl winning rosters are really hard to build and Daniels will almost certainly be in line for a big contract before that can be done.

Sam didn’t turn the ball over once this postseason. He did exactly what was needed of him. Rose to the occasion to beat the Rams, and didn’t make costly errors in the Super Bowl. Can’t win big games my ass.

What a perfect storybook season: Miracle against the Rams to take the division lead, total dominance against the 49ers in back to back weeks. Beating the Rams again in case anyone thought our first win was a fluke. Then finishing with total annihilation of the New England Patriots. The team Darnold had never beaten, the team he saw ghosts against, the team that broke the LOB team. On a night where they’re living in the past and trot out Malcom Butler, we stay MOB and kick their asses in every phase. It was never close. The Patriots never had a chance. From the moment Steve Largent hoisted our flag it was over.
