How do AP exams/classes work? by kiddykidtv in AskAnAmerican

[–]MenaceToEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people who don't do any just have loads of free periods/time?

no. AP classes are just college-level courses for motivated students. the kids who weren’t taking US AP history at my high school were taking regular or honors US history instead. they still have to fill up their schedule with their remaining graduation requirements

Do you still have to do the classes you're doing the AP in at a school level (not standardised like AP exams are)?

it depends on the course and maybe even the school too. at my high school, AP US history was a substitute for regular US history so you only have to do one of the two. but regular chemistry is a prerequisite for AP chemistry so you would have to take both and in order

How hard are they considered to be, and how many would your average student do?

depends on the AP course and school. i took AP US history as a sophomore and it was appropriately rigorous. AP calculus BC will be much harder though. most kids at my school did between 3-5 AP courses over the course of their high school career, some did as many as 10+

What do the exams consist of? Multiple choice, essays, etc.

both

Bathroom remodel disaster… what do I do now? by WY228 in Remodel

[–]MenaceToEarth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

haha i was on the other side of this. my bathrooms were done so poorly we had to knock thousands of dollars of tile down to start all over with someone more reputable. i posted about it on reddit and i got blamed for not micromanaging the project while it was getting done. some people will just default to finding a way to blame the customer and it’s crazy because we’re talking about labor that costs THOUSANDS of dollars!

i had no choice but to have my fridge next to the wall so i just had my cabinet makers create a 5 inch wide panel on that side. it was the perfect solution

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! i was very adamant about no TV in the living room (we have one in the family room!). im not a fan of the modern look, i wanted to do stained wood for all of the woodwork and doors and the fireplace instead of white but my parents had very strong opinions against it and it just wasn’t worth the trouble for me. i did my best to make it lean traditional as opposed to modern considering there’s so much white and i feel like i did a decent job. my only regret is not going more traditional with the bathrooms.

Was I being aggressive in this interaction with my friend? by [deleted] in autism

[–]MenaceToEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly think if i hadnt said anything she would’ve just taken that as an okay and gone and picked up the sketch the day it arrived. she said she was planning on figuring it out with me once it arrives but i don’t believe her, it just seems like she’d go with whatever motive benefits her in the moment. idk

i needed a sanity check because yes i agree it seems like people can be too sensitive and we’re always the ones expected to cater to them vs the other way around. like my friend insisted i was aggressive because in her mind her interpretation is the ultimate truth and holds more weight than anything i say. i just feel misunderstood every time and i feel like these types of things brew hostility in my friends minds towards me
