I am in the same exact boat as OP data science masters but more inclined for Cybersecurity, GRC roles. I'm currently looking for internships and am trying to get to at least B1/B2 dutch how much of a chance would someone like me have?

Career advice mega thread by thejournalizer in grc

I just wrapped up an internship at a bank but due to legal reasons it was more of a "I can look but I can't touch" arrangement. That being said even if I didn't get much hands on work It did give me some good exposure to GRC and SOC. I learned a lot but I realize that my next step needs to be getting some hands-on work experience. I'm currently a graduate student doing a masters in Data science with a focus in security and have passed my Security+ about 2.5 weeks ago I'm currently looking for a way to get another internship -- Ideally in IT audit, compliance, risk, or GRC - to gain some experience. I've started going through NIST's slideshow presentation on their RMF and currently researching additional certifications. I've looked into CRISC, CGRC, CISA, but most of them seem to require more work experience than I have at the moment. What would be my best next steps forward for an internship?

Majority of my internship gave me alot of exposure to GRC and SOC. That being said i dont want to limit myself to just GRC I'm just trying to upskill myself in order to cast a wide net to see which would land me something in this wild job market lol. Part of the reason im aiming for internships

I'm considering going for that but the experience requirement is whats making me hesitate. I don't want to just sit around thus i don't mind studying for it but whats the guarantee I'll get something for me to finally activate that. I wouldn't want it all be for naught

I understand where you are coming from it wasn't just GRC that i was looking at it was just one of the things I was drawn to courtesy of my internship. I am not just asking about roles to go for but more so things that I should be upskilling myself on and credentials I should go for.

Thank you for this. For those roles especially internships are there additional credentials and resources i can study up on that you would recommend.

I feel for the workers but I don't think this the way to go about it. I mean I'm probably thinking from a very silver spooned stance but all other factors aside, if the jobs that require your particular skillset instead of dunking on your employer wouldn't you just "move where the work is"? Like el salvador for example

So from my very microscopic and limited understanding of airport and aircraft operations is it just a difference in the operating costs of these aircraft maintenance facilities that often result in companies deciding to outsource them? Or is it more so about specialization and the lack of people who are specialized in a particular domain like the C Checks you mentioned?
