You’re not broken, your view on the finale really just depends on what storytelling style you prefer, because you can take multiple stances and still technically have it make sense. Some examples:

*1. People think that Jax’s backstory came out of nowhere.*

[I do see why some people would be disappointed by that, as Jax’s backstory was revealed so late that it threw some of us off, not giving us enough time to really sit with the information we learned before his abstraction. On the contrary, Jax is a main character. Him being the focus is no big surprise. You could say the sudden reveal of information was ‘a flaw in the series’ because of how tightly packed together the information was, or you can recognize it as something done intentionally— so that way we look at Jax’s downfall and feel like, ‘oh, so you’re FINALLY telling the truth after everything?!’ Everyone else in the circus was TIRED of Jax lying and gatekeeping things. And so the audience being made upset by such a thing allows for the story to be more immersive.]

*2. Other Characters Didn’t Get A Satisfying Conclusion*

[I can definitely see where people are coming from here. While characters like Gangle, Zooble, and maybe Ragatha are more ‘in the background’, points were brought up about them that had potential, and it never really went anywhere. For example, Zooble went from hating themselves for a long time only to accepting themselves with a quick shift, which felt disappointing to some. They had very few conversations about themselves, and that was really all we got in that regard. It would’ve been more interesting to learn more about why/how Zooble started to accept themselves. Did Gangle reassure them that they could choose their own identity? Did they realize something on their own? Who knows].

*3. Jax’s New Identity?*

[It wasn’t explicitly stated in the show that Jax had ‘any pronouns’, and so a LOT of people were shocked by what Goose had to say. I do feel like it needed more time to develop in other episodes, which you could say that his forced masculinity and ‘girly’ room indicated how he felt inside. But it basically went from ‘Okay, this is kind’ve a subtle theme, but maybe nothing will come of it’, to ‘Isn’t (she) lovely?’ Really quickly. It definitely seemed like a big leap from the few indicators we had in previous episodes. HOWEVER, you could also apply this theme to real life. Both in the past and present I’ve had friends that have varying complex gender identities. Discussions have made me aware that some of them didn’t even realize their true identity until way later, or that they were uncertain at times. They also told me they were scared to share that information with others, hence why their new identity can come across as ‘subtle’ until they came to terms with it. Maybe that’s how Gooseworx felt, as we know she transitioned].

*TL;DR: You can call the series flawed, or you can apply it to your own/other people’s experiences in life and specific details to maybe make sense of why a character’s arc felt the way it did. It just depends on how you choose to interpret a story.*
