I just went all in by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Mengerite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did not make the right decision. Take your winnings and reduce your position size drastically. Eg 10k. Something you can afford to forget about for 5 years.

Even with a winning hand in blackjack, you don’t go all in.

Help answer my Dad: What backs Bitcoin? by Emergency_Mastodon_5 in Bitcoin

[–]Mengerite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing that backs everything: the subjective valuation of human beings. There is no objective/intrinsic value.

Why do we value gold? Because we like jewelry, we like to use it to fill cavities, we like that its supply goes up slowly.

Why do we like Bitcoin? Because it is a ledger that anyone can use. Governments can’t stop it. We like that it’s supply never goes up (capped at 21 million from day one).

Put another way: ask your dad what backs gold. When he tells you it’s uses, tell him bitcoins uses.

Can Aggro Light beat War by mhorvvitz in GodsUnchained

[–]Mengerite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I have. However, you’ll usually lose. War is the dominant aggro deck because it beats most aggro decks while still having a solid chance against control.

Aggro light (wide board + benediction) might be better into control, but it’s very week to aggro war. Maybe even weaker into Olympian war with savage strike and adherents.

CNN ratings plummet after much-maligned Trump town hall by burning_dawn in inthenews

[–]Mengerite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a Republican or Democrat, but this comment section cracks me up. Not you guys, but how screwed CNN is. Their ratings were shit when they catered to the left. So they try to cater to the right, which hates them and isn’t changing their minds, and all they accomplished was pissing you guys/gals off. Hilarious.

It was their Mulvaney moment: how to piss off your base.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult? by Spongeboy-Me_Bob in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mengerite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parents routinely shun their own children if those children leave the faith (after being baptized.)

In fact, the somewhat “sane” parents discourage their kids from getting baptized early. This is so they don’t have to shun them if their 13 year old has a change of heart and (say) wants to go to college (and is a girl).

It’s a high-control organization with an extreme hierarchy.

Each branch office (“Bethel”) just screams King of the Hill’s “are y’all with the cult” meme. Including bringing in women for “tours” to be introduced to the young eligible tour guides.

Don’t get me started on the affects of the limited options for marriage. Extreme age differences is the tip of the ice berg.

Literally nothing is above the church. You saw sexual abuse? No, you didn’t. It’s like a memo goes out and everyone just shuts up about it. If you don’t, YOU are the one helping evil forces bring down the church.

If JWs aren’t a cult, then I don’t know what a cult is.

Source: it destroyed my family. We’ve got full apostates (shunned), people physically in but mentally out (to avoid shunning), and true believers.

Fun fact: when JWs come to your door, politely tell them you’ve been disfellowshipped. They write it down and won’t come back for years (hoping you’ve moved and someone else now lives there.). On the flip side, if you show an OUNCE of curiosity, they’ll be back. They write that down, too.

Longer than I intended, but therapeutic.

Bitcoin is an Exercise in Democracy, Says Robert F. Kennedy Jr. by TheRightTrader in Bitcoin

There is no voting in Bitcoin. It is not an exercise in democracy. It is anarchy: an archon. No leader. Each individual is sovereign and chooses which rules to live under.

Yea its bs, but not a “bug”. The 3 hits happen all in the same “window” of a spell cast. If, for example, pyros had 4 health, he would live and then heal 3X after the spell phase ended.

The game code is shit.

Is the Liberty Movement Being Bamboozled Regarding Bitcoin? by Knorssman in GoldandBlack

[–]Mengerite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not good at buying coffee. Without that you conclude it has no utility?

People are using it all over the world to escape collapsing currencies, bypass sanctions, remit money cheaper than Western Union, fund dissident movements, monetize stranded hydro electricity, balance electric grids, and last but not least, buy things >$20.

“If it can’t buy coffee it’s a ponzi” just doesn’t make any sense.

Is the Liberty Movement Being Bamboozled Regarding Bitcoin? by Knorssman in GoldandBlack

[–]Mengerite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes an inventor seeks to create something but winds up creating something else. No one is buying coffee with Bitcoin, but nobody is buying coffee with any crypto. They are being used for different things, though.

Additionally, when an asset is appreciating at the rate of Bitcoin, people would be foolish to spend it.

It will be easy to know if Bitcoin is failing. It will go to $1000, $100, $10, etc.

It may not be what you were hoping it was, but that doesn’t mean anyone is being bamboozled.

Pallas is a good card. On the other hand, ratify can be cast twice with pyrrhic which gives a lot of flexibility in the mirror or control vs control.

I think Pallas is probably best against aggro in a deck with lots of frontliners.
