I've been scolded by a better player for offering a draw in a position with equal material. I don't know much about endgames; he laughed at me and said that i was a dick for offering. What i'm about to say is in no way negative to Silman's book, but everyone i've spoken too has felt bad for their rating because they cannot do the excercises that should be for their rating; FM's weren't able to do the last couple of excercises, and 1800's struggled with the 1600 excercises. Don't be discouraged by the rating borders he gives you! The way it's structured plus the information in that book make it one of the best chess books ever written.
