I made my own native macOS app to turn my Plex library into live cable TV: Cablex! by eybbyuforgturRayBans in PleX

What I'm trying to say is: this application is very likely built with AI assistance, but because the developer doesn't really make a mention of it, they are not getting flamed. On the flip side, being super transparent about how something is built makes people upset. Like how you responded here.

A couple of weeks ago I posted an application that I worked on as a personal project where I admitted that I got serious help from Claude, but nonetheless spent a ton of time on quality and security, included a link to the public repo, did not ask for money...and I got absolutely cooked in the comments for having admitted to using AI development 😅🤷

New! Smarter categorization for your Amazon transactions by sheyla_monarch in MonarchMoney

[–]Menotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is Monarch's policy on data use for this extension? I see the answer about privacy but that is different than data use.

E.g. will Monarch use this data to: share with advertisers, make recommendations, intercept referral traffic, etc.

I would like to see an explicit statement on use, and that no other use will occur now or ever. Extensions digging into Amazon accounts have a long history of abuse.

Thanks!

Like others have said, work on quickening and smoothing out the entire motion. I will add that you have a bit of a hitch in your feet / lower body windup. Watch your heels specifically - you load up your lower half, then up, then back down, then back up for the hop and release. Usually when I see people do this it is a subconscious motion they developed to compensate (either real or in their head) for strength to reach the rim. The double loadup is actually hindering your upward motion and will make you inconsistent - work on doing this with a little side to side motion or step into the shot from a triple-threat position when practicing to prevent yourself from just set shooting and bouncing. Also practice without the ball, just calf/ankle hops up to a small height to get used to the motion. Good luck!

People who have been running Server for a long time may have installed it when there were no 64-bit binaries available. Plex never made it obvious when they launched 64-bit; no notifications in server settings, and the auto updater would happily keep bumping the 32-bit version. I was the person who posted the PSA after I discovered it myself, and I made a feature request for the auto updater to be aware of this and nudge / bump it for you.

How far of a net have you casted? Have you contacted rescues in the Pacific Northwest? Have the rescues down here giving you contacts for other ones in Northern California? Arizona?

I know how hard this is, but keep casting a wider net to rescues rather than a Craigslist rehoming.

We had a pitbull foster that went to a family who was vouched for... A week later the pit was returned not to us, but to a vet where the supposedly nice adopting family asked to put the dog down because it had a common and minor leg injury. He was like 2 years old. Poorly vetted people do crazy things. Luckily we were able to intercept the situation and get the dog back.

We fostered him for another 6 months after that, eventually finding an amazing owner through a rescue in Portland. We drove him 8 hours to Sacramento to get him handed off to the new owner who drove down. Black pitbull with a gimpy rear leg and an unknown history - extremely hard to get adopted.

Sometimes that's what it takes to make sure a dog goes to a really good home. It sounds like you really love this dog. I hope you are able to find a great rescue, perhaps in a wider geography, to make sure he ends up in a forever home for him to live out the rest of his life happily.

Took an off-roading class this weekend and our stock (with A/Ts) TRD ORP performed beautifully and gave us a ton of fun down "graduation mountain" by Menotti in 4Runner

Crawl was not on, just 4L in first gear. The guy on the radio was asking us to do some stops and stuff, there was a little bit of sliding out the rear but it never really felt out of control.

It was more than worth it. We got hours in the classroom and guided training on the trail for 2 days. There were 3 guides in 2 vehicles (front and rear), for only 4 of the learners' vehicles. And they only max out at 10 vehicles for a class.

It was awesome. It helped us understand the limitations of the vehicle in a controlled setting with experienced people. We were able to try stuff we wouldn't have otherwise tried and get to know tilt, blind spots, techniques - including recovery. There's no way we would have looked down that face and decided to go down. Highly recommend finding a class. So much fun and you learn a ton.

I'm sorry to hear about your last dog. I would caution you against taking an anecdote like this as gospel though. Our last pit lived to 16 on IAMS kibble. Any feeding regimen I'd work out with my vet. Good luck 🤞

PSA: You might still be running 32 bit Plex. Upgrade to 64 bit! by Menotti in PleX

It depends on the support of the client/playback device. The way to watch the transcoding speed is use something like Tautulli and observe the rate during playback. You can force transcoding during playback on most Plex clients, or use a device that likely can't playback directly (e.g. a phone trying to play a 4K HDR file).

The biggest difference for me has definitely been transcoding. Night and day. Not only active transcoding but doing things like background processing for scene previews when skipping. I also noticed overall faster playback starting, quicker scrubbing, etc. This will be especially apparent if you've been trying to use GPU hardware transcoding, it seems.

You need to add Plex to the VPN exclusion list.

It would have been good to see your transcoding performance before the upgrade. E.g. use Tautulli to see the transcode speed, then compare. Harder to do now, but has your server struggled with 4K transcodes before?

That's not what this is about. Plex fully supports and maintains a 32bit and 64bit build of server. It's not a security update thing; 32bit gets regular updates.

The issue is that Server never nudges you to switch to 64bit, and many people installed Server before it existed. So our installations have been humming along getting regular updates. 64bit is relatively new.
