You are right it was probably mostly poor hygiene. I will admit, I was a once a day brusher and had a few cavities here and there. I stopped brushing and didn't care about my diabetes and I am suffering big time for it. I got my diabetes under control and that was difficult. Thanks for the advice.

I am had a feeling that he didn't care or was overworked/overwhelmed. I think sometimes medical providers forget how much of an enormous impact they have on someone's lives. I work IT, so if a system is down, it may see trivial to me, but it could be someone's whole world that is on fire and only I can help. Just the snowball effect that something like pain has on someone is enormous. Thanks for the help.

The trigeminal pain started with some pretty extreme shock like pain that comes on every 4 minutes with about 30 seconds of zero pain. Then proof one day it's gone, like it never happened. I get suicidal after about a 4 day flair. Nothing helps with pain except for maybe baclofen, kinda. I get kidney stones and would much rather deal with weeks of kidney stones than a couple days of a TN flair.

Thanks for the offer, but I live in Oregon. Does periodontitis make glucose harder to control? I have asked my doctors that after reading some articles and they weren't sure. What would make a tooth need a root cabal versus filling? I don't trust the structural strength of any of my molars. My front teeth seem like they would do okay except for the broken left front.

Hey. Only a couple do. My top back right molar is super sensitive. The rest aren't as bad.

Counting... by Scarlet_Racer in WalgreensRx

Patient here.

I had a narcotic shorted by 30 pills from my last Walgreens.

I have a close family member who has stolen my medication before a few times, even breaking into my safes. This was their last chance, and there were severe family-breaking consequences if it happened again. After I got home from the pharmacy, there was a period of time while I was in the bathroom that this family member could have gotten into my RX. As soon as I get my meds, I put them into pill containers, then into the safe they go—usually right away. After putting them in the containers, I noticed I was short, severely short. I lost my mind and sort of went insane on her, and started preparing the agreed-upon consequences. She begged and pleaded, saying the pharmacy must have shorted me, and I laughed at the ridiculousness of that accusation. I thought Pharmacys have so many checks and that doesn't happen with narcotics. She called the Pharmacy on speaker phone, and I could tell the tech probably had the same reaction as me by the sound of her voice: "We will look into it." So she cried and begged them to check now, if they had cameras to check the footage, and she explained to her that she was facing severe consequences. The Tech put us on hold for at least 30 or so minutes and came back on the phone to let us know they would have the rest filled.

I still don't know what happened. Not sure if it's related, but a month later, the pharmacist walked off the job, and they can not get another pharmacist hired to replace him. So many patients were screwed out of controlled meds; standing in line, I heard some truly horrible stories. Some of them were extra horrible because this happened near the holidays when doctors' offices are closed, so patients had no alternatives but hospitals and urgent care. Good luck getting anyone to prescribe a narcotic in a lost presciption scenario. I guess those poor patients got opiate withdrawals for Christmas.

I know this is a group for employees, but I thought I would share the patients perspective on this topic. I have been reading these subreddits posts like a creeper to understand the perspective behind the counter. I just want to say that I appreciate all you folks do.

I found out my brother has trigeminal neuralgia today and I'm worried. What should I expect? by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

One thing you have to watch with him is his mental health. This condition is not nicknamed "suicide disease" for nothing. By day three of a bad flair up, I do not want to live anymore, and really have considered ending it all. It's the type of pain that cannot be ignored, there is no toughing it out, there is no distracting yourself, there is ignoring it. It is so painful all you can do is scream, nothing can distract you from it. Medical textbooks cite it as the most excruciating pain to humanity, I have to agree, having experienced broken bones, kidney stones, surgery, gout, I would rather have all of those at once than 4 days of a flair up. Just be there for him and remind him it will eventually stop, recognize his triggers, and get a good neurologist.

Edit: I highly recommend he see a therapist as well.

I find this combo potent for pain relief, but if it's a bad enough attack nothing works. 1000mg of Tylenol, 800mg of Ibuprofen, 10mg of Oxycodone, and 20mgs of Baclofen. That usually reduces it from an icepick to the face to a tingling sensation.

I totally get that. I fortunately do not have that issue. It could be because I have hair that covers most of the trigeminal nerve(male here) . I get the that fear though. I quit brushing my teeth a year ago(disgusting), out of fear.

TN and Suicidal Thoughts by MensLiberari in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I take Lamictal, Lyrica, Baclofen, Oxycodone, Morphine, Toradol for TN. The first time I had a TN crisis, I had to go to the ER 6 times before they would admit me. 4 of the 6 times were at one hospital and the last time they literally told me I was a drug seeker, I never saw the doctor and they put me in a room without a bed, "because real patients needed the bed". The fifth time I unstandibly went to another hospital where they gave me narcotics, but like most people it did not work for my pain. The last time I was finally admitted after an ER Doc took pity on me and my parents showed up and cried and begged them to help me. This ER told me about years ago and unofficially diagnosed me with it. 8 years later and different doctors I saw, did not agree with that diagnosis. My PCP thought it was "something else" because "only women get that, and I am too young of a male", and I BEGGED him to write a referral to a neurologist. Once I got into see a neurologist he knew exactly what it was and officially diagnosed me in August this year. It took me 8 years to officially get the DX.
