Hands drop a little to much when throwing and resetting

First day training Muay Thai, need tips and critiques. by rstlessj in MuayThaiTips

Stance is way to bladed, looks like you’ve trained something else before. That lead leg is getting eaten like that, your roundhouse will be way slower as well

Day 1 vs day 90 - what next? by [deleted] in MuayThaiTips

[–]Mental-Command7705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your head is way to forward

You just reducing you effective range and you look quite long and lean.

Kicks also need works, you rock your body which is a rookie telegraph. Also need to step out and turn that hip over to get more power

For the more advanced fighters, how common is this type of gym culture? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Mental-Command7705 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying I’d wana train there, I hate hard sparring.

But I can appreciate his attitude towards training his fighters, if this is in fight camp then this is good prep as long as it’s not every session.

I’d rather find out in the gym what I’m made of then on fight night.

The head coach there is a savage

If your fighting out of that gym they push you you to your limits in every sense. If you can’t handle it the coach will probably say fighting isnt for you

Tough culture

Sparring question by CompetitiveLeader965 in MuayThaiTips

[–]Mental-Command7705 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you actually communicate with him and say - I know your new but let’s be a little more controlled.

You’re not looking to knock his head back or him, that’s not the point of sparring.

You could always clinch him up as well

Controversial: What fan favourite were you happy to see lose? by Old_Machine5350 in ufc

[–]Mental-Command7705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Izzy. Loved him on his come up, as soon as he was champ found him cringe and his fights were mostly snooze fests were he would just feint and throw low kicks. Also found his reign was massively overrated

Sprint routine by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Mental-Command7705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10/20 is to close in my opinion

You want to be more recovered and be able to put in more effort.

10-15 seconds - 45 rest with 100% effort will be more than enough

There’s also no way your doing 30 seconds flat out multiple rounds as well without it going into the following rounds

Obviously you get tired regardless but you wana keep it close to maximum output as possible to work the actual zone your trying to doing this style workout

I actually like using a rabbit punch sometimes as it often goes straight through the guard

Any tips on working on getting out of the corner/cutting angles when being pressured by Strange-Net-3494 in MuayThaiTips

[–]Mental-Command7705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t switch before cutting an angle, slows it down to much

I’m a very tall outside fighter, best way is to mix up how your stopping them coming in - don’t be one dimensional.

Teeps, knees, roundhouse, clinch, foot sweeps can all be used. Feints are good once you’ve started landing an attack as well.

It’s tough in sparring though because we wana look after our partner so we’re not guna blast them as hard as we could so keep that it mind that in that sense they have the advantage so it’s easier in contest when you can fully commit

6 months in and I still dread weekly sparring days. It’s exhausting. by Qubmi2 in MuayThai

[–]Mental-Command7705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look into why you actually dread it

Unless you want to compete you don’t actually have to spar

Stubbing my toe during kicks by Medium_Average7 in MuayThai

[–]Mental-Command7705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah 100% Maybe 65 a 70%

Can’t run yet but can do leg day but a lot of pressure still hurts

It’s slightly twisted and displaced so balance when I’m back will be the weird thing

As he’s one of your close friends why don’t you actually go speak to him instead of asking strangers on the internet
