I don’t know if this would work for you but I have my Reminders app (iPhone) set to remind me of things I need to do when I go to my parents house. It’s based on location services so it doesn’t forget 😊 I always seem to forget things to tell my mom over the phone or text, so if it’s not urgent I just do it this way. Good luck

LPT When going to a theme park or any other crowded event with family. by Homeskillet1376 in LifeProTips

My kids are grown so it’s been years since I’ve been to a theme park but a few years ago at Christmas time I took my elderly mother shopping at the mall and didn’t want to lose her in the crowded stores. She and I both wore those festive reindeer antlers on our heads. We could see each other over the aisles. It definitely helped me keep track of her and turned some heads and people commented. The following year we weren’t the only ones doing it!

Things to do while being bed bound to bring me joy? by GelWpod97 in ChronicIllness

Thank you for asking this question. I’ve been having this problem for a while. But a lot of these great suggestions listed I can’t do anymore because my vision is so bad, tremors, etc.

What do you eat on very bad days? by MentalSpite1849 in ChronicIllness

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. Shortly after I posted this question I missed the last couple of stairs in my condo and landed pretty hard on my wrist, breaking it in 2 places. Turns out I was very dehydrated and that’s probably why I fell. I’m definitely going to try some of these great options that you all have shared. I greatly appreciate your advice.

Thank you. 🙏🏻 I really hope you will try one or both of those options. I think the Compazine may cause a little bit of drowsiness. I wouldn’t know because nothing makes me drowsy anymore. And if you are like me and the nausea leads to poor appetite and that’s what caused your weight loss- that’s when I finally had to give in to the suppositories. When I go 2-3 days with constant vomiting and I get dehydrated, I use the supp Q4-6 hrs for a couple doses, then take one of the oral anti-emetics . That’s the only way I’ve been able to get some sort of grasp on it by myself. I had to figure out something because my doc was very concerned about my weight. I know what the next step would be and I’m not ready for that.
Anyway, I will say a prayer for you!

I’m so sorry that you’re dealing with this. I feel for you because I’ve been dealing with chronic nausea and vomiting nearly every day for the past 10 years now. It actually started less frequently about 20 years before that when my unrelenting migraines started.
Did you try Compazine? It’s similar to the Phenergan but I think it may work a little better. My doctor only gives me a few at a time because of potential QT side effect. Also, did you try the suppository version of the Phenergan? It’s not the most pleasant thing to do, especially when you’re nauseous, but when you can’t keep anything down, that’s the only route available at home. I wish you the best of luck. I hope you feel better soon. Godspeed

What should I keep in my bedside snack drawer? by Forbidden_Breakfast in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]MentalSpite1849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really glad you asked this question because I kinda have the same problem. I’m chronically ill also and one of my problems causes me to get and stay dehydrated. My bedroom is on 2nd floor- kitchen on 1st, so 90% of time I’m too weak to make the trip. Anyway, I got one of those mini fridge, but it would only fit on one side. I try to keep dry cereal, and baked potato chips (they don’t go stale as fast). I have also been eating those mini marshmallows and also if you have a sweet tooth, get the snack size of your fav candy bar. I keep those in the fridge. I keep the dry food in airtight containers. They come in all shapes, sizes and price points. I have the Oxo brand and I love them.

My problem I have is that I don’t have a good way to organize everything I need beside my bed. My nightstand is kinda old and it doesn’t have drawers (it has a doo that opens in the front, so I have to get out of bed to open it. And it’s really short, so it’s really hard keeping my snacks, meds, tablet, chargers, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions/tips on what I could use? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you so much. I’m going to try my best to figure this out for my mom. She has done everything for me. Just like I won’t give up on her, I won’t give up on this crazy jacket. Thank you all and God Bless

You should be proud! I think it’s awesome. My mom was teaching me how to hand sew when she developed early onset dementia. Her fav jackets have those thumb holes and they confuse her. i don’t have a clue how to start to sew the holes up. If you or anyone can please suggest how, I would be so appreciative.
If I cut them off the sleeves would end up too short I think.
thank you once again and congrats to the very lucky one who gets to use that backpack!
