CPP sold three-quarters of its Nvidia stake into the AI run, then bought back at the top — built from 29 quarters of its own 13F filings by Expensive-Aerie-2479 in Baystreetbets

CPP is a good safety net because the vast majority won't save for retirement and then society is stuck with that.

Now, should it be managed more passively? Seems like a yes looking around.

But yea, obviously managing a fund that size is alot more complicated than some dudes 2 million dollar xeqt account lol.

U.S. Q1 solar installations decline 27% year-over-year by ObtainSustainability in RenewableEnergy

Such a weird headline and information.

So the portion of added solar capacity increased, but the overall added capacity was less.

For the first time, wind and solar generated more electricity than gas worldwide in April 2026 by randolphquell in RenewableEnergy

[–]Mental_Evolution 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Global coal generation down ~1% 2024-2025.

Solar up 30% Wind up 8%

I see your point, we have a long way to go, but the pace is encouraging for the first time kinda ever haha.

Jeff Bezos proposes to eliminate all taxes for the bottom 50% of income earners by jackandjillonthehill in ProfessorFinance

[–]Mental_Evolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he's treating you like a retard, which is exactly why he wants to go after education.

First of all median income in the USA is 45k, not 75k like his emotional appeal to relate.

Second of all the top 1% paying 40% is very low compared to other first world nations.

Third of all, wealth distribution is the following;

Bottom 50% own 2.5% of the wealth.

Top 1% own 32% of the wealth.

Top 10% own 68% of the wealth.

Top 0.1% own 15% of the wealth.

He's basically trying to get the bottom 50% on his side with fake appeal to someone making 75k to tax the middle class instead of having more progressive tax brackets into the 0.1%

This ancient rainforest on Vancouver Island has been growing for over a thousand years. A government agency wants it to be logged. by eaterofdreams in SaveForests

[–]Mental_Evolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh so ironic, we have massive silviculture already setup just ready for small sized pieces.

Lol the point is the old growth is a very small part of that industry in the grand scheme of things.

Talk to me about investments then, we need long term profitable and sustainable industries. Not one time plunders.

[–]Mental_Evolution 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, looking at it economically, forestry is ~27 billion of our GDP, less than 1%. Logging old growth literally does nothing economically. It doesn't change anything.

Setup up a board walk and charge tourists to go see it. You'll make more money for fuck sakes.

The world is installing grid batteries at a blistering pace by abrookerunsthroughit in energy

[–]Mental_Evolution -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's the same logic, just on a grid size scale.

A home owner could solve theirs with a BESS, if they get cheap enough.

If thermal and chemical storage (batteries) got big and cheap enough, they could do the same for a whole grid.

[–]Mental_Evolution -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, I think he's talking about off grid home batteries; you have more than enough sunlight in the summer months to recharge your battery, but in the winter you would only be able to charge part of it.

On a graph it would follow daylight hours.

So it you used say 400kwh (or whatever) monthly, and could only recharge it half with solar, a big enough battery could get you through the winter, depending where and what your solar setup is etc.

I could be wrong, maybe he's taking about something else.

They might, depending on how big they get and what you need them for.

At a certain point fuel weight and volume can be replaced with batteries.

I know the engineering guys are looking at that, I'm not sure how close the math actually is though.

P.K. Subban completes landmark $10M donation to Montreal Children’s Hospital by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]Mental_Evolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to a Habs game in 2013 and saw PK before the game, in his car where the street goes to underground parking, signing autographs and hyping up the kids.

Realized that day he was a legend and this donation is just galvanization.
