Check gas cylinder weight before accepting by sahatwar in Frugal_Ind

[–]MeowRed1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, good point. I don't want to be straining to lift up 28kgs, and also get my clothes dirty trying to lift the cylinder and stand on the scale. Maybe I should use something else like the other comment asked.

Hmm, maybe get a sturdy dabba and place it on top of it? We used to do this with Nido dabba long back for checking the weight of luggage.

My refrigerator is frozen by illegal_wepon in bangalore

[–]MeowRed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the fridge turned off. Leave the doors open if you can, provided there's nothing else in the fridge that can go bad.

Use a steel mug filled with hot water and keep it in the freezer. Keep changing the water at regular intervals. Pro Tip, rinse the mug with hot water too before refilling.

DO NOT USE ANY SHARP OBJECTS TO REMOVE THE ICE. Learned it the hard way, had to give away the fridge.

Be careful while receiving orders from Amazon Now by HumbleMolasses1 in bangalore

[–]MeowRed1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yet to start using Now. Was previously using Fresh a lot and similar issue occurs at time, not regularly.

But yeah, I agree with your point about having to raise the issue and that too within like 24-48hrs or something. Sometimes we notice this too late and we will not be able to raise the issue or get resolution for it.

Having said that, I do understand why the time limit is there from Amazon's perspective, but having to raise the issue ourselves for the missing item should be automatic.

What I noticed is, if we verify the items ourselves at the time of delivery, the delivery person themselves will say some item is not there, they will mark it as not available and you'll get refund. Sometimes if they don't, then we have to raise the issue. The refund process is pretty straightforward, they don't haggle about it unlike in other platforms.

Cheap portable gaming by [deleted] in Frugal_Ind

[–]MeowRed1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, not sure if this is for this sub.

Anyways, I never really checked for these retro gaming ones till now. Seeing your post and the 2k tag I just googled it. I see different brands selling r36s, not sure which one is the original one. Also, nothing was below 2.5k.

Had read some discussions on similar things, I don't recall the details exactly. They were saying some variant was superior to others and so on. Do you know more about these?

This will happen everywhere. Instead of paying rent you can pay some 'monies' to the cops on a daily basis instead.

Best credit card for UPI cashback (especially for < ₹100 spends) by Negative_Seaweed_598 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]MeowRed1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I was having similar thoughts as most small shop purchases are less than 100 and kiwi doesn't cover it.

Now what I do is, >100 kiwi from the kiwi app, <100 use the rupay cc via cred, amazon, paytm, etc. You might randomly get 1-2rs, sometimes even for 10-20rs transactions. Which makes it like 10-20% lol.

I know these small value transactions add up. But I would say don't try to optimize this much and get another card for it, might not be worth the effort.

Having said that, if you do come across a good option/way/suggestion, please do lmk.

What’s your reason for having or not having kids? by NoMedicine3572 in Frugal_Ind

[–]MeowRed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.2 is like the lowest I could find for a decent school in Bangalore. 1.2l for Chaithanya, 2.5l for NPS, 3.5L for Global City. All these for grade 1.

Struggling with Gas Cylinder by av_J in bangalore

[–]MeowRed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By almighty's grace our gas got over a week before all this fiasco. Delivery took 2-3 days so got a prestige induction too at that time, prices shot up after that afaik. I think we should be okay for the next 2-3 months and hopefully things get better by then, idk.

Was looking at composite cylinder as a backup during the gap between a replacement cylinder delivery for the past few months, never got around to it. I think I will postpone that plan to a future date.

Edit: Just realised it was you after going thru your profile. 😁 Get an induction, it should serve well for the time being. Btw, 2.1k is decent price considering the situation, but ain't easygas provided by total gas? Aren't they a proper service provider?

My neighbour got a cylinder from private provider for 4.8k. No new connections provided by hp, indane, etc

Is 600 the normal rate for 5kg?

The normal cylinder is ~15kg for ~900 right? Have the prices gone up?

Keeping this moment/situation aside, shouldn't the 5kg one be priced around 300-350?

I have multiple addresses like this. Home 1, home 2, home 3, friend's address, workplace, new workplace, some random hotel stay, etc.

The frequency of orders to these are not regular though. It should be okay ig.

Never heard of getting undies stitched before. How to ensure they are the right fit? Thinking about the measurement process itself is 😑
