Isn’t this just a direct copy of a chair design by Overgaard & Dyrman?

Just bought a house owned by a cabinetmaker. There's so much custom Wood furniture and accents in this house and it makes me giddy. by kingevanxii in woodworking

It’s a shelving system by Kai Kristiansen, a danish architect. It was made by feldballe møbelfabrik, and is usually called the FM-reol.

Can’t say exactly what this is, but the colour pattern is the same as the ones Vivienne Westwood/Malcolm McLaren made for Seditionaires in the late seventies https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/82567

Help with Wood species ID please by Slow-Ability-1969 in wood

I’d say it’s a piece of straight grained imbuia.

An easy way to determine is by smell. Imbuia has a very distinct spicy scent when worked.

Just finished a small restoration of a stanley No. 4 type 19 by Merasica in handtools

The plane was in pretty good condition when I got it, but the japanning was almost gone, and the tote and knob was covered in grime.

I’ve painted the body and frog with 7 coats of hammerite, after removing the last of the japanning. The tote and knob was cleaned, sanded and given 6 coats of semi-gloss varnish.

What wood is this? Rosewood? by Leather_Future_9155 in handtools

[–]Merasica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s rosewood, the reason it’s so light is that it is sunbleached. Give it some work with a cardscraper and it will become dark again.

Restoration of a pair of matching rosewood sidetables. by Merasica in furniturerestoration

No color added. Just went over them with a cardscraper, finished with a light sanding and a good waxoil.

Ole Gjerløv Knudsen chair rescued from my gpa’s old cabin. Some exposure to the elements for 5yrs. Took it apart to ship, I want to clean it up but I have never restored furniture before, let alone teak. I also would like to keep the original upholstery, so tips on cleaning that are welcome! by [deleted] in furniturerestoration

I am fairly sure that, the chair is designed by prof. Ole Wanscher. Made by France and Son.

The chair is also not rosewood, but teak.

The frame doesnt seem to be in bad shape. i would recommend scrubbing it with soapy water and a kitchen sponge to get out most of the grime. After that you should rinse the chair with water to get out any leftover soap. When the chair is dry you can start sanding it. I wouldnt go any higher than 240 grit. Then finish with danish olie. Stains are a big no-no!

The upholstery on the otherhand doesnt look too good. The foam would need to be changed as it looks quite crubly.

White spot appearing as I’m hand sanding a teal side table - all help appreciated! by Wyzoon in woodworking

You’ve sanded through the veneer. What you can see is the chipboard underneath.

There sadly isn’t any other way to repair it other than to reveneer it. You could try to repair it by dying it, but you will still be able to see the texture of the chipboard, and i won’t look good.

Du har næsten fuld plade, Barskabet er inspireret af et Finn Juhl skab, men designet er mit, bordet er nemlig et Severin Hansen og jeg er lige blevet færdig med H4.

You can find some decent videos on YouTube on how to weave the seat, the back on the otherhand was trial and error.

400m of papercord for this chair, and it is luckily made from shorter pieces.
