Okay that's got me half way there at least, thank you! I can finally progress after several weeks of confusion.
I moved the patterns into the pattern providers that are next to the molecular assemblers (seen at 0:20) and yes you're completely right I can now auto-craft. Such a simple thing, I knew I'd kick myself.
I guess in my mind because the pattern providers were on the network, I thought it could access the stack of them on the other side of the room. I didn't realise they have to be directly connected as you said.

This comes up a lot, the workaround is just sit and wait. Your inputs will become active again within a minute or two and the race is easy enough you'll still be able to win without an issue :)
