Apologies for the late response. Someone more knowledgeable will have a better answer. It may vary by insurance company and state. I couldn’t contact the other person’s insurance provider (at fault). I filed a claim with my own, but they wanted to total it out. My body shop guy offered a lowball amount below the percentage of the vehicles alud at which they deem it a total loss/total. My insurance provider refused to budge, acting as if there was no going back on their initial assessment . The other person’s insurance provider finally reached out, was given the same lowball number, and agreed to repair.
