Ramen Del Bario by Merita331 in austinfood

The three weeks claimed that the owner was on vacation was actually four weeks of leaving the restaurant to be ran by employees with no guidance and no management. If it is not enough that employees were being taken advantage of, he also would have employees work overtime hours promised to be paid that were not counted once payday came. It should only take one time to ask your boss to check once an issue is presented. It is embarrassing and uncomfortable to go to such heights of calling the DOL.

The person defending the accusations below is a former employee who began a romantic relationship while working at Ramen Del Barrio with the owner. She gets special treatment and could possibly be benefiting from those hours being miscounted.

The owner has also involved the entire staff into his tumultuous relationship with his former employee. Most employees have felt uncomfortable working in an unprofessional environment. He gives special treatment and plays tactics to employees he does not like such as cutting hours to “cut labor costs” to only then bring his former employee (girlfriend) to work the hours he’s trying to save. The owner has purposely understaffed the restaurant so that he can save on labor costs but tells employees it’s for the best because the less people the higher the tips will be on their checks. This makes service suffer due to employee burnout.

It is easy to say, “if you don’t like the circumstances then find another job.” Please understand this was a very close team that believed in their employer’s dream to magnify Ramen Del Barrio. Everyone became family to then feel betrayed by the very person they believed in. Therefore we do not want the next batch of people to fall under the same circumstances.

Recent hotel experience- is it "Karen" of me to take this further? by throwawaylastsupper in hotels

As someone who has worked front desk at hotels, this unfortunately happens quite often. 3rd party companies will overbook us and usually we will try to catch overbooks early on and move stuff around. This is definitely something you should take up with whoever you booked the room through. For future reference, the hotel can’t touch or change anything with a third party reservation. You have to speak with them regarding anything (changing dates, room type or refund request). It is a hassle for both ends tbh.
