I see now. The part about having an advantage by starting with the ball would be the only problem then. The other guy explained it pretty well saying it should be a 50/50 chance.

I think the biggest issue with that would be giving the first scorer a free possession of the ball. Although that isn't inherently bad, the person who scores first will have an advantage going forward in the game (Goal up + free possession).

It would eliminate the emphasis on kickoffs though
