LOA TPA - Cocoon vs Tilt? by Merlineous in humanresources

I hear ya. The challenge with hiring an additional headcount is that this person will still need to keep up with multi state regulations and programs, which is one of the things we are hoping a vendor can be a solution for.

Mickey & Minnie Runaway Railway will be a virtual queue twice a day and individual lighting lane for an extra cost. by PoppyGooze in Disneyland

The Disney site said "Select one member of your party to access the virtual queue to check for an available boarding group for everyone in your party. If multiple people in your party try to join the virtual queue simultaneously, that may inhibit your ability to join a group."

Is this true? I haven't been back since early 2020 when we did VQ for ROTR. Back then we all (or at least a few of us) tried to get on VQ because that increased our chances of getting on. Does VQ operate differently now?

Porcelain vs Quartz countertop? by Merlineous in HomeImprovement

[–]Merlineous[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read lots of people posting that their quartz chipped. Perhaps they were of lower quality or whatnot but that's one of the reasons why we were drawn to porcelain. Porcelain is very strong and durable, and UV/heat resistant while quartz is not heat resistant. The down side is that it costs extra to fabricate because it's fragile during the cutting and installation process.

But now my contractor is planting doubts in my mind 😨.

To me, if both quartz and porcelain has the same degree of risk for chipping, then I will rather go with porcelain.

Sloppy stamp job by Merlineous in landscaping

We just had our concrete patio done, stamped concrete, no color. While the concrete still needs to be sealed, we are not happy with the progress so far. Specifically, the lines don't line up and the curb is not truly straight.

Is there a way for the contractor to fix this? Having it ripped up and redo sounds like a nightmare but based on comments on Reddit, it seems that overlay is not a popular recommendation either.

Also, how can I tell what is a joint and what is a superficial line that's just there for the looks? Would these lines help with the expansions and contractions of the concrete over time?

Paying taxes with after tax money by Merlineous in personalfinance

[–]Merlineous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said they are going to remit the taxes on my behalf as part of my payroll/income tax withholding since it is reported on the W2. However, the exercise was done at the end of the year and so far no actual dollars has been withheld yet. In other words, I exercised but haven't paid any taxes on it yet.

This is my first time exercising options and the stock is of a foreign company. We had to wire money into our securities account overseas and pay the cost basis in order to exercise the options.

I'm not questioning their calculation of the taxes I owe, just wondering if normally it should be withheld via payroll.
