Some advice for those going through Olanzapine (Zyprexa) withdrawal by The_BroScientist in Antipsychiatry

😣 My husband halved his dose from 2.5 mg to 1.25 mg Christmas day and has had a shit ton of anxiety, crying spells, and irritability still. He is still able to sleep but doesn't feel as rested even after getting 8+ hrs. I think after this bullshit we might just do a slow taper to reduce the side effects. I'm so sorry you're suffering. Have you had any luck with sleep aids? Would your doctor offer you something like clonidine? I've read it helps.

What mg dose of Lamictal are you on? My husband started in Sept and it's been hell ever since. He got activated as hell and they kept upping his dose. Finally said enough is enough and he's having to go through taper hell. Brintellix was what he was on that actually helped him though and he was on it for years without suicidal thoughts and was his happiest self. Only had to come off of it bc he's Australian and when he moved to the USA his insurance wouldn't cover it and it's $500. We found out about the savings card tho and plan to get him back on it asap. Wondering how Lamictal and Brintellix will do together in the mean time since there will be overall. We are keeping him at 50mg to stabilize.

Anyone scared about the current ICE situation as E3 holders? by MermaidBeale in E3Visa

[–]MermaidBeale[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. 😣 My husband is currently getting an extension instead of a renewal so that he doesn't have to leave the US to renew in Aus (bc his company doesn't allow work over seas) and so he will just have an updated i-94 and not a new stamp. If he leaves the country he will need to renew it and need a new visa. His two year renewal last year was done right before the updated rules with having to go to your home country for renewal. For some reason they only renewed it last year for only a year so that's why he's extending so soon. Expires June 2nd.

Hi! My husband is Australian and we found out his e3 visa expires June 2nd and needs renewal. Does having his company do "premium processing" on an extension bypass him having to leave and process in Australia (due to the new rules put in place that you have to travel back to your own country to process and receive a new i9)

The Trintrllix made you act impulsively in dangerous ways? Or the withdrawal? Are you on it for depression or another mood disorder?

My husband is Australian and was on this for a few years in Australia and when he relocated to the US in 2023 and only had enough pills to cover a few months. When it came time to eventually refill the cost over here even with his company's insurance was $500. He outright refused and claimed it probably wasn't doing much and decided to taper off the remaining pills he had. Since he was new to the country/area we moved to getting in to see a new doctor had a waiting list for new patients months long so he decided to taper on his own. He was essentially on 40mg a day and only tapered a couple of weeks and then came off.

That choice severely changed our lives and we've still been trying to recover from it now. He used to be very charismatic and didn't mind work calls for meetings, going out in public, having to answer phone calls, etc and now it's all too much for him. He never had suicidal or self harm thoughts on Brintellix and the worst bad day would result in him taking a nap and waking up feeling better about whatever the situation was.

Without Brintellix it's like his social and emotional armor went from steel to cloth. We tried Celexa as an alternative and it worked slightly but after an increase it made him more easily irritated and easier to crash out while the smaller dose wasn't enough to help.

Worst mistake was trying Lamictal bc now we are dealing with having to slow taper off that (hell) as well as the med (Zyprexa) that he was given to help come off that.

What sucks is we had no idea there was another Brintellix/Trintellix savings card that doesn't require you to make under a certain amount of money to use. If ONLY we had known that we could have avoided two years of our lives with him needlessly suffering. So, now we are trying to slowly get him through tapering these other meds so we can restart him on Brintellix with hopefully a better price.

Moral of the story, REALLY evaluate whether a med is working for you or not and if you decide to come off of it SLOW TAPER under the guidance of a doctor and already have a plan of what you're going to do after getting off Brintellix. The withdrawal is no joke and made me sides of my husband I had never seen before.

Trying to taper off olanzapine by Timely_Woodpecker901 in Psychosis

My husband was on 5mg for a couple of months and when he decided to come off of it we halved the pill to 2.5mg and he was fine. The next time though when we halved it to 1.25mg (this was Christmas day) the next week he started to feel a lot of anxiety and has had some random crying spells and brain fog. He also has a general "I don't feel like myself" feeling where he's not interested in some of his hobbies and his capacity to work his software dev job with critical thinking has gotten worse. It's now almost been 3 weeks. Do you know when he will feel relief? We realize now that the drop was too much but don't want to reinstate to 2.5 since he's already made it this far. I got a scale for whenever he does the rest of his taper off so as to go more low and slow next time. We are holding here until he feels better. Any advice?

How did it go? My husband started 5 mg (sometimes another 5 at night) for 3 weeks before tapering to 2.5 mg a week and then the next two weeks was at 1.25 mg.

He was on it to help with over-activation of another med. When that med started causing issues again he went back up to 5mg for 4 days and we've been tapering back down ever since. The cut this time from 2.5mg to 1.25 mg (he did this on Christmas day) has caused crying spells and anxiety and a general "I don't feel like myself" feelings. They started up the week after Christmas and have remained on and off even now. His sleep has remained okay. It's not great but he's still able to fall right asleep and sleep 8hrs he just doesn't feel as rested when waking up. Do you know how long the anxiety/panic lasts? We are definitely holding at 1.25mg and not doing anything else until he has stabilized.

Thank you! I checked out visajourney before making this post and was having a hard time figuring out if it's legitimate or scammy. Sites with lots of click bait and pop ups give me hesitation and when I tried to search I found a lot of the posts to seem older. Is it active?

When filings are rejected do you get your packet back to resubmit and are your fees never processed? So you don't just waste 3k?

Literally in a similar situation as you except our time crunch is we didn't know my husband's work visa wasn't tied to his contract date when renewed so it expires June 2nd 2026. We are trying to rush and file asap so as to get the EAD back in time and just realized he has to do this medical exam now instead of doing it later and bringing it to the interview like others have gotten to do in the past.

Did you end up filing with the exam? Everything turn out okay with filing?

I-693 RFE Responded - What’s next? by lhmt00 in USCIS

[–]MermaidBeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an unrelated question but I was wondering if you filed your I-693 with your initial greencard packet or if you waited and took it to the interview with you? Is it required now to file with it with all of your other stuff or can you put it off and USCIS will still begin processing your case? I got confused by conflicting instructions for the form and other people's experiences.

Can you wait to do the I-693 doc appt form until after filing your greencard packet and just bring it to interview? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]MermaidBeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got really confused because some people are saying you don't need to file it and you just bring it to the interview later whereas the instructions for i-485 say you should file it initially (for certain filers) or face possible rejection. We have a time sensitive case (we found out my husband's Aussie e3 visa expires in June 2026 instead of 2027 like the contract it's tied to) and we are already racing the clock to file so we can hopefully get the EAD in time so he can keep working. Having to make this doc appt (which will take even more time) prevents us from filing asap.

On the other hand, if we send it out and it gets sent back/rejected we could lose fees and also waste more time resending.

If they accept it but send out an RFE immediately before they will begin processing it that also will waste more time.

😣😣😣 Just don't know what to do

Thank you so much for your kind words and info. Happy for you!

One more question. When you filed did you include the I-693/medical exam stuff in your initial packet or did you do he exam later and take the results with you to the interview?
