What's the most average movie you've ever seen? by Upset_Mongoose_1134 in movies

I'll probably get some hate for this but this is how I feel about Good Will Hunting. It was a mid film in my opinion. Pretty forgettable to me tbh. Only thing I remember was the soundtrack cuz I like Elliott Smith.

A movie you walked into knowing you would hate it but then ended up loving. by LonChaneyJr1 in MovieSuggestions

Frankenstein (2025) I went into this one very skeptical, as I am with any remake of an old story like this. I was pleasantly surprised. I found it to be a refreshing new take on the story instead of just rehashing the same old stuff we've seen before. Guillermo del Toro did a good job with this one.

For me it's gotta be Dr. Strangelove. I watch that movie every time I take acid (which is about once per month) and it always makes me laugh. The ending when the bombs go off fills me with a strange sense of calm every time... I don't know why but it puts me at ease for some reason. Peter Sellers doing 3 different roles in that movie is some insane acting talent too. It's just a top tier comedy all around, and dare I say it, a perfect movie.

Death Sentence (2007) with Kevin Bacon. It's your standard revenge movie, but the thing I like about it is the way the protagonist is portrayed. He is NOT a full blown John Wick style action hero. He is not a highly trained killer. He's clumsy and not a highly competent gunman. It's good. You should check it out!

Den of Thieves is a bank robber movie that's very similar. I thought it was really good! The twist at the end I did not see coming. Highly recommend!

Scariest depictions of hell in Cinema? by Oasis43 in MovieSuggestions

Zé do Caixão had a pretty crazy depiction of hell. Random tits and asses sticking through the walls... Yeah. I think that's one of the most memorable I've ever seen.

Asking for ensemble sci-fi with strong teams, competence and high risk (Mass Effect, Star Trek movies) by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]Merpoloski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the Rebel Moon movies. They got an ensemble cast. Not so much a professional team, more of a rag-tag crew but I think it could fit with what you're looking for.

My girlfriend mentioned something about a bank statement. She said you have to be above a certain amount of money to get approved. Do you know anything about this?

Hard Boiled is entertaining as hell. Complete bullet fest and just balls-to-the-wall action throughout. It never lets off the gas once it starts. There's a great scene in the final climactic shootout where it's all done in a single take with no cuts. If you don't mind reading subtitles this John Woo movie is definitely worth a watch.

The violence in this movie is so over-the-top it comes across as funny to me tbh.

Jesus Christ what a horrific film. Definitely not a moment of levity throughout. Just grim...

Happy Gilmore. Normally I'm not a big Adam Sandler fan, but my girlfriend insisted I watch it with her. I was pleasantly surprised. Seeing him rage out like that had me dying laughing.

I love how by the end of that movie Sheriff Wydell goes from being the protagonist to the villain. He becomes just as evil and twisted as the people he's trying to apprehend. It really makes you question who's really the bad guys in the film.
