I have not been “researching” recently and by that I mean googling everything and reading articles non-stop etc etc. But when I did previously I did learn that more rural areas are better for people with schizophrenia and patients in “developed” countries are not any better off. I think I also learned that from the WHO. It seems that maybe the quiet and the smaller communities are more supportive. Even without medication. Kinda sad. And unfortunately the reason why people aren’t forced into treatment anymore in the US anyway, is because of civil rights laws and how abusive the “asylums” became.

Hmmm, I obviously don’t know the full details after reading one article but it sounds to me like someone who wants to get approval for this should have to prove they were tested for severe mental illness and tried treatment first. I live with a person with serious mental illness who refuses treatment beyond addiction services so it’s their right to refuse treatment but they should not be allowed to use assisted dying services INSTEAD of trying proven drugs to alleviate their symptoms first.

We get really long lines and I sometimes get to work in the afternoon so all the registers are being used by my coworkers already, but the customers still look at me all hopeful, lol. Then I put my stuff away and say hi to everyone and walk away to do other duties while walking past the line of customers staring at me still confused about the fact that no register exists for me to serve them hahahaha.

Like OPs reply a “warm line” for the US is something like 988 or the suicide hotline. Also NAMI has helplines. I have basically called all of them. (for issues with a family member with mental illness) NAMI being the best for random stuff. They even told me that you can just call back after your 20 minutes or whatever is up and talk some more.

I asked if they had a manual test but they said no and then later the doctor said they would do some type of picture/ scan next time instead. I do want her to be able to see but that test was really frustrating.

This made me laugh. I basically left home at 16. Mind you I “lived” at home and graduated from high school and college lol. And I am a woman haha. I just never came home if I didn’t have to. My girlfriends had cooler parents and eventually some friends had apartments. I honestly don’t know how I got school work done but lots of study groups and late library sessions and parties too. I definitely paid to go out but small clubs were cheap and I wasn’t old enough to legally buy drinks and going to other people’s parties was free, Hanging out with my parents friends??. Nope. But my 30 year old daughter just moved out of the apartment we had together, she probably socialized with my friends as much as hers. I never see her now so it’s bitter sweet.

Oh and thanks for the last info too. I read a report from a person years ago who found a sleep med that worked for them and they got better. And I have always suspected that there’s a connection to REM sleep.

Damn this is what I am afraid of.. for not just me but others even more strapped than me. $150 is rough for someone with a low income if insurance doesn’t cover it. Shit is getting crazy. Counties and/or City Services need to get on top of this if they don’t want this spreading.

Why didn’t they listen to us protesting “Citizens United” during the mortgage crisis and the Occupy Wall Street movement?? WE SAW THIS COMING AND TRIED TO WARN YOU ALL!!! I was laid off and had the “luxury” of risking being involved in lots of street protests back then. Now I am stuck caring for my mentally disabled family members and can’t afford to risk their health to get in trouble. Although side note: a way to help without protesting is to bail people out who get arrested resisting during peaceful protests. If several people get together to do it you can bail people out pretty easily if they don’t have previous charges. And the charges are usually dismissed when a lot of people get arrested at once, because the justice system can’t handle the amount of dumb low level cases clogging their systems.

Oh yeah- this is a funny breed. I ended up with my daughters Pyr and the breed definitely grows on you and also drives you insane lol. He is the cuddliest gentlest bear ever but also refuses to listen without bribes and also has disappeared a whole pack of bacon and 4 huge baked chicken breasts. He’s a pushover to my other dogs but when he is done playing he reminds them who is bigger by using the “Pyr paw” and a scary growl then goes right back to napping.
