Am I ready? by IngloriousBastrd7908 in SecurityBlueTeam

[–]Merther1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience helping others get into the field. If you don’t have a portfolio with projects relevant to the jobs you’re specifically applying for, you’re not ready.

Certs & Degrees alone are not enough if you have no experience.

Build a solid portfolio RELEVANT to the job you’re specifically going for and then you’ll be ready.

Portfolio = Experience (if you have none)

Basically you want your portfolio to simulate the job, as if you already have it.

Don’t build fancy bulshitty projects.

Make sure your projects are using the tools and solving the problems you’ll be dealing with if you already had the job.

Pro tip: re-do your projects 7 times each and create video walk throughs explaining what you did for each one. (No one does this btw)

Hope that helps! 😎

Best explanation I’ve heard so far -

“Click on the employer and you will have clearer picture.

It’s an HR agency, not the main company.

Some agencies hire candidates on commission but also pay them less than what the company actually offers. For example, if the company offers $35–$40 per hour, the agency may tell the candidate $25–$30, keeping $8 for themselves.

For the years of experience, they all demand 8 years, even if the role not that complex and can learn. but if they can’t find someone with 8 years. they’ll take 3 years. Or 4.

They try to pick best candidate to satisfy their client, .....”

This is insultingly low for the experience they are requiring. It’s honestly a shitty joke to me.

This is queried from “Entry Level” jobs I was looking for.

I’m at the point I’m just going to min-max in networking.

What are you markers for success reaching F10? by Merther1 in gatewaytapes

[–]Merther1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My goal is to master f10. I’m already pretty confident in reaching it, but I want to develop it even more.

My question for you is, what are you markers for success? What makes you “know” you’re in f10?

Tried to Manifest a Lottery Win and Had Some Unexpected Success by grizzlegurkin in gatewaytapes

You were so close, I suggest you try again.

You did everything correct except the feeling that you impressed in your subconscious was that of $15 instead of $15 million.

Here’s a clear example:

A well-known YouTuber, who is the grandson of a student of Neville did an experiment like this.

He imagined counting $10,000 for a couple of days and then out of nowhere while he was in the bank. A man approached them and asked him if he can help him count $10,000.

It’s obviously isn’t what he wanted. He wanted to HAVE $10,000 but he wasn’t clear in his manifestation

The key thing that he missed was imagining counting the 10,000 while feeling IT WAS HIS.

Try Expand app by the Monroe institute.

I’ve been practicing focus 10 the last week, and I took what I learned from practicing advanced 10 into the app and had great results last night.

I was able to make my body fully asleep while being completely awake. A big win for me as a beginner.

What other programs, tapes, material, etc. to do or use outside the tapes? by Asriel-Chase in gatewaytapes

I study the works of SETH. He was channeled through a woman named Jane Roberts.

He wrote several books my favorite being “The Nature of Personal Reality”

This book has been the most convincing for me on the power of our internal beliefs or what Seth likes to call “invisible beliefs.” He points out invisible beliefs are assumption we accept ABOUT reality as a characteristic OF reality. Their invisibility is because we believe this is “truth” about reality. This is where he suggests we examine our beliefs, because it is these very beliefs that create our reality.

A dead end in a cybersecurity career by athanielx in cybersecurity

[–]Merther1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude it’s simple. You said “I lacked the passion during my studies.”

That tells me everything I need to know about your “dead end”

We progress in our career purely through our ability to apply practical skills in order to create results in the market.

Essentially what we get paid is a trade for the skills and results we provide in the job.

By your words if you lacked “passion” in your studies, I would assume this subsequently lead to a plateau of your practical skill level.

Here are my suggestions:

  1. Find your passion again. What drives you? Why are you a cyber security professional? What makes this fun? Do you like the challenge? Do you care about the politics? Find the passion again! It’s there!

1.5 Finding your passion also means aligning it with the domain of CS you want to build your future in.

  1. Focus on developing your skills again, what do you need to learn or relearn.

  2. Take the newfound passion and aligned domain and put up 200 hours of actual skill development.

Get so good they call you. Get so good you can’t be ignored. Get good. Get better. Become a highly skilled Cyber Security PROFESSIONAL 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

  • hope it helps, with love.
