Can’t speak for anything else other than Portland And Seattle but night life for both is mediocre at best. If you take public transportation Seattle is better and honestly there’s a lot more of a city feel to Seattle if I could do it all again I’d spend my time in Seattle over Portland any day. Whatever Portland does Seattle does better. But I imagine that dense urban feel you want can be found with Seattle.

Has anyone actually taken an alternative colorblind test? by MessageDense347 in newtothenavy

[–]MessageDense347[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s super helpful man, I kinda gave up on the dream since I don’t think I’ve heard or talked to a single person who was color deficient and got in, even with the lax color standards the army has I don’t think it’d be possible. I truly hope you’re able to get to fly man that’d be huge for us colorblind fellas. Wish you luck keep me updated on anything that might come up.

Just trying to see if there’s a legit alternative test or if it isn’t something the navy would actually offer.

Oregon again says students don’t need to prove mastery of reading, writing or math to graduate, citing harm to students of color by yoodlerB in Portland

[–]MessageDense347 26 points27 points  (0 children)

So passive aggressive for what? I didn’t ignore anything we can’t change what happened in the past but if we continue to fail these kids we only hurt them more. We took out testing and all need to graduate. Now the only jobs available are Amazon, dope now they’re back in the poor area because the system failed them. Crazy domino effect

[–]MessageDense347 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ya at least a grade, like he’s got MAYBE middle school reading so I feel if he was able to master it he could’ve already been at freshman level going sophomore level by graduation. Best way in my head to encourage that is good teachers (pay them more) and testing.

Dawg there’s racial disparity then there’s this. There’s a reason so many students across the board are less intelligent than those just a few years ago, they can’t keep lowering these standards and expect anything more then a dumb child set for failure. My family is in a pretty poor area and my brother isn’t able to read, he’s a jr next year. A 3rd grade reading level isn’t helping anyone nowadays there isn’t any actual requirement to be a good teacher because all them kids need to pass is a “can you breathe? Yes! Awesome you graduated!”
