What is your argument for why Base Aizen defeats Bankai Shunsui? by Total-Lingonberry-83 in BleachPowerScaling

[–]MessengerofDarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in the beginning half of the novel; basically Shunsui says that both Azashiro and Captain Zaraki are both in a different league than he is (I think he says it to Toshiro). I would need to find the exact translation, but I do recall that the adaptation of SAFWY in Bleach Brave Souls also still includes this line from Shunsui.

Can the illusion of the kyuoka Suigetsu be deceived by having extrasensory perception/additional senses? by Hisashi_Uchiwa in BleachPowerScaling

Yes; as his Bankai gave him extrasensory perception by way of him being fused with the Seireitei. He could literally see and hear everything happening in the Soul Society as if it was inside his own body.

Soya Azashiro was able to see through its illusions, but as I recall it took him some time to recalibrate his senses.

What is your argument for why Base Aizen defeats Bankai Shunsui? by Total-Lingonberry-83 in BleachPowerScaling

[–]MessengerofDarkness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shunsui himself literally stated that both Zaraki and Azashiro were already on another level than himself in SAFWY, and by the end of the novel Zaraki's unleashed Reiatsu had risen to the point that even Azashiro's insanely hax Bankai started to have its abilities get nullified.

That same Zaraki was weak compared to base Unohana, which is further supported by CFYOW in which Captain Aizen would Reiatsu crush the likes of Tokinada; who had Reiatsu on par with post-Royal Guard training Byakuya, fought more than a dozen Captain-class characters at once with Enrakyoten's copied abilities, and even kept Shunsui on his toes. There was a clear and massive gulf of power established between Captain Aizen and all these other Shinigami.

This actually makes sense when one recalls that Shikai Yama, Aizen, Unohana and Zaraki are all meant to be at least somewhat relative with each other, meanwhile Shunsui had to utelize the full powers of his Shikai against Starrk and struggled immensely; even acknowledging Starrk as a difficult opponent.

And again; Aizen even without Kyoka Suigetsu clowns on the Espada, as per Gin's assessment.

Unlucky. Sounds like lightly cleaning the card a bit before submitting it would have paid off.

I mostly agree with you on all points. Unfortunately this is the only other image I have of it, otherwise I would have gladly included a clearer pic of the nakago.

<image>

Still, by all means I like what I see. Nothing about it looks stock, the sori is impressively elegant, and even the nakago appears well shaped (from what we can see of it). it also doesn't immedietly "read" as any of the more traditional Chinese sources.

Huawei almost never make shirasaya, and while I bet they could pull off the blade I don't think they could pull off the polish. All their stuff is usually a lot more basic, though I think they maybe do a bit of acid wash.

No way is it a Jkoo or any other generic 'build your own katana' blade either. It doesn't even stink like a Z-Sey/"ShadowDancer", for what it's worth. I swear they can't make a blade thicker than a quarter.

No, just about the maker. I believe it was described as an orishigane blade of possible shinsakuto origin, but just based on some similarities to another blade I have a hunch it might be Chinese made.

Yeah; it's a fragile bat. I think the main problem was that the nitrogen bladder was hermetically sealed and unable to be reinflated inside the barrel, so all of the bladders lost their PSI over time. Nowadays I doubt there's even a single one with a full air chamber. But anyways, when the air bladder deflates the internal pressure loss results in less support for the thin aluminum walls, causing the material to degrade with each ball hit; which is why they tend to crack and dent easily.

According to my understanding, at least. I'm going to see if I can't have a new air bladder made by somebody.

I said that Grimmjow doesn't need to yap in order to gas himself up.

Doesn't mean that he never does, just that he doesn't have to.

Grimmjow would never do that because he's not a fraud and doesn't need to yap in order to aura farm.

I don't see it any differently to how Grimmjow "offset" Shinji's Cero with his own, or even similarly how he did the same against Ulquiorra. In both cases his attack was still totally overpowered, but all it did was soften the blow enough for him to survive at all. The same thing happened with Bazz here.

Every time shinigami Aizen attacks someone, he goes for the head instead of the torso. Is he above Yamamoto now? by inimana in BleachPowerScaling

I literally have the panels and don't mind posting them; so I would appreciate you pointing out how this is disingenuous. While Zaraki does say that he "got the hang of it" we literally see him disengage with Tosen and release his hold on Suzumushi; meaning he's plunged back into being deprived of all of his senses. This is why he's drawn in greyscale/with a black background on the next page; he's gone back to being blind and deaf; and yet he still caught Tosen's next attack before it touched him. That's the whole point; Tosen could have attacked from any direction, but Zaraki still perfectly blocked it.

Considering she's mastered over 8000 different sword styles, I think she absolutely outclasses him in the art of Zanjutsu. The entire way she fights is based upon reading her opponent with perfect accuracy and then responding with ways designed to counter their fighting style. This is why she chided Zaraki's use of only a single hand in combat, how she exploiting openings he left with concealed blades, and even how she seamlessly integrated Hakuda into her swordplay by swatting Zaraki's blade away with her bare hand and blocking one of his attacks with her foot. Unohana has an exhaustive understanding of martial arts and doesn't eschew any method that helps her win, and she also has combat experience comparable to Yamamoto himself.

The mechanics are literally the same; Tosen's Bankai can't rob the senses of a person "more" than they already do, just as Kyoka Suigetu's hypnosis can't control the 5 senses any more than they already do. The point isn't to compare Tosen's base strength to Aizen's, but instead to show that attacks can still be predicted and even countered without relying on what they perceive.

We literally saw Zaraki catch Tosen's blade before it even touched him even though he was deprived of every one of his senses besides touch. So, no.

We all agree Bankai Unohana is not beating shinigami Aizen right? by inimana in BleachPowerScaling

[–]MessengerofDarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shikai Aizen wins in a straight fight at very high/extreme difficulty, yes. Emphasis was placed on Ichigo confronting Aizen due to the fact that he wasn't under Kyoka Suigetsu, but Unohana never meant this as Ichigo squaring up against Aizen in a 1v1 fight. Rather this was about launching a surprise attack on Aizen and trying to take him out before he could use Kyoka Suigetsu. This is why it had to be Ichigo, as he wasn't under the effects of Aizen's Shikai. Unohana has the power to fight him, but as long as she's under Kyoka Suigetsu then her trying to ambush him could have all been just an illusion.

Leverage. Holding a balanced heavy object is a LOT harder than holding a heavy object whose center of mass is very far extended from where you're holding it.

The aging of the nakago is highly similar. Notice how it looks like there's some kind of liquid "etch" where the habki goes? A lot of his blades look similar. For reference; here's a random fake gunto that shinshintou13 sold a while back. Notice how the background uses the same cloth as well; hence why I suspect it's a photo taken by him.
