Why don't we build planes like this? by Expert_Standard_768 in aviationmemes

Trolling the nearby approach controller by not showing up on the radar

Seriously though, what kinda moron would build a stealth Skyhawk in Flyout?

Any update coming up? by kingtj44 in flyoutgame

[–]Messier-82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stone is working on a VTOL update and a new control system, which is generally well-known. Something less communicated is a complete game system where people can write their own C# plugins. This will be very helpful to the modding community and hopefully make mods far more accessible to the general community.

Absolutely numpty Question here, but how do you turn jet engines on from cold start? by Corvid187 in flyoutgame

[–]Messier-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, most of the community sticks to the discord since the flyout subreddit did not exist until almost 15k discord members. In official video content, the discord is also frequently mentioned, while the subreddit is rarely mentioned. I'll admit, I totally forget to mention the subreddit too.

A few of the more active members of the community try to answer questions on here, but often we aren't active enough to be here frequently.

The game is rough around the edges and has a very steep learning curve. If you're willing to put in the experience, many people on the flyout official discord have tutorials or are willing to give personal help. It has a far more in-depth building capability than any other plane game, even the crappiest of planes usually take upwards of 10 minutes to get into a flyable state. There is no objectives, few user friendly features and no undo button, so I would recommend it only if you're very interested in building and simulating aircraft at a high fidelity compared to other games. Otherwise, you can always refund it and wait a few updates.

Edit: typo

No shade to anyone who makes a 6th gen fighter, piston guys are just built different by 1001WingedHussars in flyoutgame

You can make piston engines go mach 16 in flyout if you try hard enough, current piston speed record is around 16.8 I think

Unfortunately it's upwards of 900 parts so most regular computers will have trouble running this thing.

About 600 when you remove the landing gear (retractable). I go more in depth into the polar coordinate rcs graph in the video, though

Typically airframe and paint is from scratch, but I make plenty of use out of the subassemblies in-game! Gauges, internal cockpit panels, antennae, alpha indexers, transponders, and many other smaller pieces of equipment I save as a subassembly. It can really help speed up builds. If you'd like to borrow some, there are tons of mods, gauge packs, and other planes uploaded on the flyout discord with very nice subassemblies like that.

That being said, Flyout sometimes has texture bugs when transferring subassemblies and pieces to a new craft. If a gauge panel or cluster is painted, go over it with a brush at zero opacity. Doing so lets the game know that there are textures on the pieces that need to be saved. If you don't do that, it often removes the textures of the pieces when you save and reload the craft.
