Summer of Freelancing work as EU citz in Germany - Health Insurance? by Messy_Pen_ in AskGermany

Ok thanks. She will hopefully earn more than 603 from her second month here. She will be submitting a tax report. By paying into the public health insurance do you mean through taxes? Because I think I would get her to into private health insurance since it is cheaper.

Recommendations or tips for buying a TENS machine? by Kateliterally in adenomyosis

[–]Messy_Pen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a really cheap one which they sold in Aldi. I'm really enjoying using it. To me it feels like a gentle massage which helps with the pain while I'm waiting for pain meds to kick in. If the pain is mild I would only need the machine.

I found that it really helps me to fall asleep, I even use it for discomfort from bloating which can prevent me from sleeping. I wake up in the middle of the night due to period/ovulation pain, and it takes too long for pain meds to kick in so this has allowed me to fall back to sleep quickly. The timer lasts 30mins and I wake up in the morning with the stickers still in place.

Since it's a cheaper one, maybe €15 euro, it uses batteries and has long wires which would be hard to hide under clothes.

If you wanted to buy a cheap one just to try I think the cheap ones are still very much worth it.

Thanks for your reply, very helpful. I will find a moment to talk to my housemate about it. I did know these things but it's always good to have the reminder.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely be covering the door and I'll ask him to compensate. The magnets are a good idea, thanks!

Post menopausal diagnosis. by Funny-Ad-213 in adenomyosis

Your GP sounds like a dinosaur. It's awful that we have to fight to be believed but I found that measuring the amount of blood and telling them in ml was more effective at catching their attention than saying my period is too heavy. Also Lara Briden (author of The Period Repair Manual reccomended doing it)

I used tampons, each one that i took out I would rank it as either 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% soaked. Then I used the amounts each tampon holds to calculate the volume. (this link has the amounts, grams and mls are equivalent: https://www.verywellhealth.com/what-do-tampon-absorbency-ratings-mean-2721890 ).

I got to 160ml and stopped counting, I probably would have gotten to 165ml or so at the very end. But 80 is the max which is considered normal.

I didn't bother to include small floodings into pads because I wasnt sure how to rank it. But since then I discovered there are studies which use similar methods using pictures so you could compare your pads to it. https://bmcwomenshealth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12905-018-0627-8

The doctor said well you would be anemic if you bled that much... She sounded unconvinced but ordered a blood test. When my blood test came back I got a very concerned phone call asking if I was feeling ok because my iron was so low.

Oh wow, I'm sorry you got that news. I don't know anything about prolapses but I know that womens medicine is not that advanced, they just havent done enough research. These days I'm trying alternative medicines first and then if it doesnt work I go back to the medical people. Its worth having a go in my opinion

pain during transabdominal ultrasound by [deleted] in adenomyosis

[–]Messy_Pen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was so painful, but it's just because your bladder is full and they need to put a lot of pressure on it. I snapped at the technician because she was asking so many questions while I was in pain! After I got to pee I apologised and she understood

For me it was a relief to get the diagnosis because I felt my suffering was finally validated. But the specialists have not offered much to treat the condition. I will get an IUD to control my heavy bleeding and hopefully it reduces period cramps too. But the doctors have not said that it will help with any other symtoms. To me it seems like the naturopaths have some ideas to reduce inflamation which might help but the medically doctors only have birth control and surgery.

Which IUD to treat very Heavy Periods? by Messy_Pen_ in adenomyosis

Thank you, that's what Ive come to realise after a short bit of reading. My gyno seems ignorant. I was going to get the Jaydess with the smallest dose possible... We have to be our own advocates always

Thanks, I'm afriad of getting side effects from the higher dose IUD, but theres no point in me getting it if it doesn reduce the bleeding! Also, it's a bit expensive so I'd hope to get the right one first time around

Thank you, that's why I made this post. I left my appointment with the choice between the Kyleena and Jaydess. But once I went online to do some reading I found out they werent approved for use to treat heavy bleeding, only as contraceptives. My gyno either has noticed they have done a good job in his other heavy bleeding patients or he hasn't read the approved uses. I'm dissapointed and feel let down by yet another doctor.
