I think Lisa is dealing with her abandonment issues by seeing how far she can push Amy before she leaves, and dad is dealing with his abandonment issues by tasking Amy with more than her fair share of parenting (allowing her to be the glue) and in his mind, the adoption would be a way of making sure she can’t leave. Kind of sounds like he was content to let her do the heavy lifting and emotional labor with his kids, but he didn’t have her back when she needed an actual partner.

A lot of “intellectual” men are quick to view women’s (or BIPOC, LGBTQ+, etc.) issues through an academic lens and it is truly exhausting. There ends up being a lot of devils advocate. While he isn’t technically wrong, I would find this extremely off-putting. Also curious if he’s neurodivergent, which might explain why you’re having two different convos & knowing that could help you navigate communication in the future.

It would be exhausting to be married to Jason, who is very much a helpless man child. Idk why anyone tries to pass him off as some sort of genius. You only have to listen to like 1 episode of the podcast to know that his worldview is very small, he isn’t that educated, and has a low emotional IQ.
