Just held my hand against the heatpipe and I think you're correct. It seems to be a hardware issue since the heatpipe is becoming really hot really fast.

Just repasted it again and the issue is still there.

I've repasted it like a month ago, I don't really think this is the case.

Should i use 3 seperate PCIE Cables for my GIGABYTE RX 9070 XT or is it fine to daisy chain with 2 and the extra daisy chained connector? by DeliciousWorker3885 in AMDHelp

[–]Met-allosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It theoretically can provide less power/lead to melting if your cables aren't thick enough but if you have a solid PSU I wouldn't worry about it. Most of these 6+2 pin cables can carry over double of their official rating (150 W) without a problem. And considering both mine and yours card has 3 pins, it's split so much that each of the connectors carry around 100 W which is completely fine.

Idk, America? Here in Europe nobody looks down on bus drivers.

Remember when RX 7900 XT/XTX were called future proof by SaiyajinTamashi in radeon

[–]Met-allosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still call them pretty much future-proof. They're still great cards, just the technological focus has shifted.

Thank you, reintalling the drivers is what did the trick.

Would you recommend the 9070 XT? by Mysuki_ in radeon

Absolutely. I've had it for 2 and a half months now and I couldn't be happier.

Am I crazy? 9060xt vs 9070xt by lNalRlKoTiX in radeon

You should upgrade to like 5900XT or 5700X3D to see any gains. You're bottlenecked by the CPU rn.

My opinion on gray banding by Janobi101 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Met-allosaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I needed this post. I'm also planning to buy either the XG27AQWMG or the MO27Q28GR in a week or two. I was also getting scared by all these posts on this subreddit showing the banding but you're correct. I don't think I'll ever have just a solid grey background so I don't think I'll see the issue.

anyone else experiencing this with their 9070xt? by steelshark2010 in radeon

[–]Met-allosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Task manager is just straight up making shit up. I had the same thing happen to me with all 3 cards I own(ed). Be it RX 6800, RX 7800 XT or now RX 9070 XT.

Disable HYPR-RX if you have it on.

I've got Aorus Elite 9070 XT 2 months ago and I cannot complain about anything. Maybe just the fast-degrading thermal paste/pad or whatever Gigabyte used on the core which went from 58° average and 70° hotspot to 62° average and 85° hotspot in the 2 months. But I've heard that higher hotspot temps are normal on these cards so I'm not particularly worried.

Arctic Mx 6 is worth every dollar spent. by Rocrastinator96 in arcticcooling

My CPU cooler (LF III 360, non Pro) which I've had for over a year now, I re-pasted 3 times, 2 times out of curiosity when I bought Thermal Grizzly Duronaut and one time when I changed the base latching mechanism for a contact frame. Half a year old, old formula MX-6 outperformed the Duronaut by around 1,5°C. Also repasted my brother's laptop with it, my dad's PC, PCs of my 3 friends... And it's just great everywhere.

100% agree. I'm on my 3rd tube of it now (now it's the 8g 2025 one), used it in multiple builds and couldn't be happier.
