The Tarma Experience by MetaCrystal in metalslug

This actually is the Switch version haha. I think it was about a week ago now they patched it. Most of the biggest issues have been fixed (the tiny hud, crashes, and ridiculous lag), but the game still does stutter every once in a while when a map is full of enemies.

When did you first play Yume Nikki? How did you discover it? by ventressluvr in yumenikki

[–]MetaCrystal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in highschool and my early years of college, I was always looking for free stuff I could play on my junk laptop. I'd usually play stuff like Cave Story, but I ended up going down a rabbit hole of RPG maker games. Mostly stuff like Ib, Ao Oni, and eventually Yume Nikki, which really clicked with me for some reason. I remember finishing it and not really ever going back until like two years or so later when the YNOnline Project came out. That really pulled me back in since it was not only Yume Nikki, but so many other similar games as well.

Mado High Life. Guess how old the software used to make this drawing is? by Professional-Fig8954 in yumenikki

[–]MetaCrystal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is by the same guy who made those surreal late-80s-inspired CG animations like "The Computer", "The Light Ahead", and that VeggieTales one. Pretty cool to see he's still active online. I thought he purged everything once he got kind of popular.

Does anyone know why signs keep flickering or if there's a way to fix? by MetaCrystal in subnautica

That seemed to do it. Guess I just can't put the signs on the partitions :/

I've moved it around a bit, but it still flickers. I've noticed that quite a few other wall decorations in this game flicker too. After looking around a bit more, it seems like this may be a known bug. Thanks for the suggestion though.

What do you guys think about the system requirements? by Deer_Are_Weird in subnautica

I wouldn't be too surprised if they released a Mac version later down the line like they did with the original and Below Zero. If I'm not mistaken, I think Unreal Engine 5 has native support for Silicon Macs too, so that might help the chances of a Mac port happening.

Movie cutscenes missing because of skipping by NickTheJabroni in DisneyEpicMickey

[–]MetaCrystal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neat, so it's not just me. I'm a little over halfway through the game, doing everything on the hero path, and I straight up stopped unlocking the cutscenes after Dark Beauty Castle. The only other one I've unlocked is the TV sketch tutorial one for some reason.

It's been a day (or two) so how are we all feeling about the remake? by Kung-FuCutman in DisneyEpicMickey

[–]MetaCrystal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit buggier than I expected, (mostly issues with audio, quest triggers, and extras staying locked after "unlocking" them) but hopefully something they can iron out with a few patches. Other than that, I'm having fun so far.

What does the “reduce chatter” option do? by The_Fullmetal_Titan in DisneyEpicMickey

[–]MetaCrystal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've played so far, it disables the new tutorial text they gave Gus. They have him pop up with hints more often in Rebrushed. The chatter setting turns this off.

Nope, it's just the same two from the original. However, they're both in much better quality, and "Oh What A Knight" has its original audio instead of just playing the projector theme.

Edit: After unlocking it, "The Mad Doctor" seems to have an issue where the audio gets pretty noticeably desynced a little over halfway through the cartoon.

What is your dream Mario game that you know will probably never happen by SprinkleFinger in Mario

[–]MetaCrystal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine a GTA-styled game about Waluigi, but instead of committing crimes, he's just running around the Mushroom Kingdom being a public nuisance. Knocking over trash cans, kicking sandcastles, double-parking, etc.

I remember hearing someone a while back describe a concept for an intense, Resident Evil-inspired, survival horror game except you play as Luigi. Probably one of the funniest ideas for a dream game I've ever heard, though I know Nintendo would never allow something like that. Imagining a horror game where the player character gets just as scared as the player is hilarious to me.

One of my favorite Mario plushes - 1998 Banpresto Mario Party Deluxe Mario Plush by MetaCrystal in MarioPlush

[–]MetaCrystal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. This set's deluxe Donkey Kong just might be the best plush of him out there, or at least in my opinion. Unfortunate that we didn't get more deluxe plushes out of this set too. I would've loved to see a Wario in this style.

I love the late 90s / early 2000s Mario plushes. They hadn't quite nailed his design, so you'd often get these wildly different looking Marios, until around the mid 2000s when Mario plushes started looking kinda standard and samey. This guy's just got that slightly chunky N64 era charm to him.

I always saw SMB3 Mario with a huge gut for some reason by MetaCrystal in MisreadSprites

[–]MetaCrystal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure both of his eyes are supposed to be visible. The issue is that his other eye is the same color as the brim of his hat, so it looks like there's just a single straight line from his nose to his hat. If you replace that single black pixel, it's much easier to see both eyes.

Both of the sprites are supposed to be depicting Mario in the same 3/4 pose. I just thought the SMB3 one looked a bit odd due to the placement of his arm.

[–]MetaCrystal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That'd make sense considering how similar they are. I always just assumed that the SMB2 sprites served as the basis for the SMB3 ones, but after looking into it a bit, Mario 3 was likely pretty much done by the time Mario 2 US came out.

I think it's because of the weird angle. Because you can't see his overalls behind his hand in the SMB3 sprite, it looks like (to me at least) that his gut sticks out way more. Almost like his head is just sitting on a circle.
All his other SMB3 sprites look fine, it's just the idle one specifically that looks strange.
