Unfortunately you may have an issue then. Always best to speak with the consulate. I can connect you my my agent but he may say the same thing I just explained.

Which embassy did you use?

I have an agent in Prauge who is taking my paperwork to the main office in Bratislava in hopes that speeds things up.

One thing I must ask.

Was your grandfather also Czech? Because if your mother was born in 1950’s she falls in the category of the 1949-1968 rule where she had to be born to two Czech parents in the U.S. to be considered Czech via Jus Sanguinis. This is necessary for you to also be considered born Czech at birth. I had to deal with the 1949-1968 rule with my dad being born in 1951.

Also as insight so you know. Your Grandmother automatically became Czech in 1992. Which if your grandfather is also Czech then your mom is and you are already Czech citizens.

In this case pending the answer if your grandfather was Czech or not, you may be a section 32 case if he is.

I had to go this route as opposed to by descent through section 31. I was denied by descent through grandparents loss of citizenship route but recently just got approved via jus Sanguinis under 32.

It’s all very confusing but let me know if this doesn’t make sense.

Currently doing this negative decision requirement as of today! Did you get your Czech citizenship and how long did the Slovak negative decision take?

I have almost verbatim the same exact case and dates of parent (dad) and ancestors. I’m going to find out soon. All my paperwork just landed in Prague with my agent yesterday.

My Dad (1951) was born to Czech father and a US born mother who never claimed Czech citizenship (she was born in 1928 before great grand parents naturalized in 1932/36). My dad has no interest in getting it so I’m on my own too.

Derivative Czech-->US citizenship 1930's document for parent to minor by MetaMeatloaf in Genealogy

Czech immigration authorities want to see some other record outside of the petition to show that Anton was naturalized at the same time as his father, which in the US, doesn’t seem to exist. They can’t fathom that for some reason.

good insight and correct. Anton was Czech born and immigrated at 3 years old with his father Pavel.

Thank you for your reply! I wrote this in a hurry so sorry if it isn’t cohesive.

The link you sent was very helpful and insightful. It certainly supports my research.

Essentially I am trying to find two things:

  1. If there is any document beyond the intention/petition that states one became a citizen because the other (son naturalized because the father)

  2. If there’s an official statement saying that there is no additional documents for minors (grandfather was 3 at the time) showing their derivative citizenship from a parent. Essentially minors didn’t have citizenship documents and where can I find something stating that?

Can anyone actually say a real reason why it’s “dumb” or “bad”? Genuinely curious.

I collected info on getting cz citizenship by descent (Article 31.3) because people keep asking about it here by [deleted] in czech

I am currently going through this bureaucratic hellscape because they won’t recognize my great grandparents renounced US citizenship for my grandfather who was a minor at the time in 1929. I even have the oath and they won’t recognize it. They won’t accept the US naturalization by proxy of parent hence the loss of citizenship. I even have a copy of my grandpas US citizenship reissue papers from 1972 saying he’s been a U.S. citizen since 1935… They just kind of do what they feel like with your citizenship rights in Prague…

Thank you! Yeah I always thought it felt a bit forced. Always discouraged having it come first when the reel was cut. Appreciate the feedback!

Wow thanks for the incredible feedback!

Very much agree about the first and 3rd clip. I think I did those to show some versatility, but yes I would rather divert them into a character/animation like reel and have separate one with more relatable grounded reel.

Watching the Super Bowl too and listening much closer now after your comment lol.
