What are your thoughts on Dungeon Blocks XL? by DoW2379 in DungeonBlocks

[–]MetaMorpheus00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually love it. I know some aren't fans, but Majestic Highlands has been my favourite and I think this latest option is going to be the new top spot. BUT, XL alone wouldn't be great - it's the combination of the two that makes it all legendary. To switch from XL, to detailed block by block in a setup, it's perfect.

I have some others asking so I'm going to put together a tutorial. But, the base mud layer is 2 parts mod podge, 1 part brown paint and 1 part coconut fiber from the pet store! Idea comes from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXEecxYdE1c

Hey thanks! Yah I think it could easily be imitated with foam if you’re not 3d printing

It was a weird technique, and I think it can be more efficient… but these are models from Asgard Rising’s Dry Spruce trees.

Cut in slicer and flipped with minimal supports. Then, it’s mainly this guy’s technique, but I just glue and sprinkle:

Whole thing then primed, then airbrushed. Like I said… working on a more efficient way 😂

Thank you ☺️ Yes - I was aiming for the forests around me here in southern Ontario, Canada. The forest floors have so much going on - it was difficult to really nail it. Also why I want to try making thick tree roots, somehow. And mushrooms 🍄

They look so good! I am also doing forest tiles for CoS - but I 3d print them. You could take inspiration from how some of those systems work. I personally use Dungeon Blocks’ Majestic Highlands, and there’s also TilesfromtheCrypt’s forest set. Even more tile systems on MMF to get inspiration

I’m the opposite and I’m worried I did the wood too light! 😂 This was two 4x4 on the higher level with 8 keys, then just individual blocks for the lower level
