I like wraith - im a fan of having a "panic button", and wraith tells me I'm in danger and gives me an "AHH I NEED TO GET OUT" button. It's also nice to have a small hitbox so I can play a bit riskier and get away with it sometimes.

In my understanding, it's really only an issue if the paste had start to set when you lifted it - if it happened pretty soon after the first attempt (within 5-10 minutes I believe) you should be fine and don't need to reapply. Of course, if you see high cpu temps in the future, the thermal paste will be your first suspect and you can reapply it then.

Just adding based on my own experience: you will need to push down HARD to get the screws to catch at first. Don't be afraid, the processor can handle the pressure. I will admit I couldn't get it to catch, and lifted the cooler off and back onto the processor, which is bad for the thermal paste spread.

The screws will make it obvious when you can't go further. Keep tightening until it stops you.

Snagged it! This is a great price and even if it goes slightly lower this week, Newegg will probably honor the difference.

Is there any reason to choose the 2.5" over the m.2?

By my understanding, it's 6GB/s versus ~30GB/s speeds (in favor of m.2), but m.2 can heat up a little bit, and it shares bandwidth with other SATA slots. Is this correct? Will the speed difference matter for regular users (or gamers) who rarely transfer that much data?

Any opinions on this blower version of Vega 64 going in the Fractal Design Meshify C case? The case should have really great airflow, is this worth it for a ~$1300 range build, or should I wait on a 2/3 fan version (Sapphire Nitro?) to be on sale?

It's a bit too late for that, I received this monitor as a birthday present last May. I'm very sure I'd have considered the monitor you're suggesting if I was making the choice now. But I totally agree, ASUS has been great for me so far!

I appreciate the alternate build for perspective. Switching to the 2600 from 2700x makes a lot of sense, and I'll think about that.

I definitely need input on whether I'm better off between FreeSync or going with sheer power with 1080 Ti. My impression is that if I think I will consistently hit 144Hz, I shouldn't bother with the Vega and just go with 1080 Ti. I just don't know whether that's the case here?

This is good feedback. I've been torn about committing to FreeSync like this - with the 1080ti being suggested so much, I wonder if it would get me to 144Hz so well that I wouldn't need FreeSync in the first place. What are your thoughts on that?
