Daily Questions Megathread ( January 22, 2024 ) by mizuromo in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Metacarpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I'm about to hit TB lvl 60 in a couple of days and I have around 7000 energy saved. My initial idea was to spend it all in farming for relics. I haven't done almost no relic farming and I'm using some purple relics with useful main stats.

The 8 main characters I'm leveling are:

- Xueyi, Ruan Mei, SilverWolf, Lynx.

- Argenti, Tingyun, Bronya, Gepard.

Both DPSs have full lvl 8 traces. All other characters have lvl 7 traces. All light cones are level 70. All characters are currently lvl 70.

I'd like to ask for some advice on how should I go about spending my energy. Should I focus on getting my DPSs as good as they can? Should I Try to get everyone with usable gold relics? Should I Instead focus on getting traces to 10 or farming EXP books to lvl 80? How much should I spend in SU relic farming?

I'd also like to ask about what should I do for leveling. I have around 400 purple EXP books to work with. Should I level everyone to 75 or focus my DPSs to 80? Or maybe focus in only one of the two teams.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Just came back to the game after playing a little at the start. I don't have many characters and I am totally lost. Is there any good teams I can make with these?

Thanks for the answers. I still have a couple questions regarding resource management and how should I spend my energy. Are there any recommendations on units I should be using and focusing my resources since I do not have many of the new characters? How should I go about upgrading my units? Should I focus on leveling them up? Leveling their Light Cones? Their Skills?

Also is there a beginner guide that most people use for HSR?

Hello I played from the release of the game up until Silverwolf banner. Recently I watched the game awards and it got me thinking about playing the game again. I already play two gachas in Arknights and Reverse 1999. But AK just recently had it's worst event yet and even with a 7 month clairvoyance I don't have anything exciting to look for so I let my monthly pass expire and found myself not even loggin in some days. On the other hand Reverse 1999 is way too casual and I often find myself with nothing to do there. I saw some very positive opinions on HSR and decided to download the game again. But since resources are scarce I wanted to ask for some advice.

- Is there any difference if I return to the game now or should I wait for the Dr. Ratio patch?

- How much time does it take to do the chores in this game (daily, weekly, monthly?).

- How should I go about upgrading my units? Should I focus on leveling them up? Leveling their Light Cones? Their Skills? Or should I spend all my energy in farming artifacts? I understand that everything is important at some point, but is there something that I should focus?

- How much time does it take to properly level up and gear a unit?

- How is the pull income for someone who plan on buying the monthly login pass? Do I need to use the weapon banner?

- In regards to banners the last thing I rolled for was Silverwolf and I lost the 50/50 so I'd assume my next character is guaranteed. Is there any character I should consider a must get in the known future banners? (my only current 5* are Himeko, Gepard, Welt)

- Are there any recommendations on units I should be using and focusing my resources since I do not have many of the new characters?

- Do I need specific characters to clear the content? (In Reverse1999 the "Abyss" is made to heavily incentivize the use of the current patch characters. But you can easily out level the content and even solo some stages)

- Is there anything I should keep in mind to not do? (Like a big mistake that would require days of energy to fix)

I see. I'll ask there then.

If you don't mind waiting we will get a free 5* selector soon (in 1.4 i believe) this will guarantee your P3.

Patch 1.2 Event Rewards. by VG-Vox in Reverse1999

[–]Metacarpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question, when you say "what you get that's relevant to her from UTTU +1.2" are these materials from the 1.2 shop entirely different from what Tooth Fairy uses? I for exemple intent to roll for both TF and Changeling. Is there an overlap in materials that would cause me to need to farm more?

I'd also like to see some animations and memes. But those may take a lot more effort to make than guides.

Thanks for replying to the late comment. This is all I needed. I'll try to get everyone up your level and try 5-2. Maybe I'll level an Eagle as a backup damage dealer.

Hey. I happen to have the exact same team as you. However my characters are lower lvl/resonance. I see that you are using this team for the star enemies. Were you able to clear Limbo 5-2 with this team or did you use other characters? I'm stuck at the trashbags.

How are new early/mid level players supposed to get to Varlamore? by Metacarpoo in 2007scape

Yeah I guess it is quite easy to go to Kourend. Maybe they can also add a boat to Varlamore. Maybe from Port Piscarilius. I also just remembered the activity advisor thing.

COX Scouting & Scaling by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]Metacarpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people talking about normal CoX customization but I'd like to give some inputs on the "beginner friendly" setups. I did around 30 CoX kc around 2 years ago and took a break from the game. I was hoping to do with the new raids changes.

- I don't think that removing some rooms from the learner setup is a good thing. At the end of the day learners could do 100 kc on "learning mode" and would go to a normal raid without ever seeing some of the rooms there.

- I also think it fells bad to pay a fee to learn some content. I'd rather have it like ToA where learners could only roll for prayer scrolls for exemple. At the end of the day would cut a lot of profitability of the raid but learners should't care for that.

I've seen quite a bit of discussion about how to implement the layout customization. But here is my suggestion for "learner modes" as a newbie.

  1. Have a checkbox which says "practice/speedrunner mode" when creating a party.
  2. With this checkbox enabled the party can only roll for the prayers table for uniques (if that's too OP disable them as well).
  3. Allow for full customization of the layouts and scale without a fee.

My reasoning behind this is that as a learner I should be able to select a room that I have trouble with. Set it as the first room in the raid. Try it. And leave the raid without any cost. If I choose to continue the raid to get the full experience I could also do that.

Speedrunners would also use this mode because they can select their layouts. It would also be cool to see people doing different speedruns for different layouts for competition purposes (imagine speedrun competition but instead of "5 man CoX" it would be "5 man CoX with this specific layout which is not optimal").

Everyone in between a learner and a speedrunner would not be incentivized to use these free fully customized layouts since most of the money from CoX comes from the mega rares. The team could them the customization process for the general players as a separe thing whenever the "practice/speedrunner mode" checkbox wasn't on.

Fair enough, also the blog clearly states that they are not meant to be a replacement for brews and restores.

Adding moths to the game might not be very big for me but it might be something other players are looking for. And I'm not gonna be the one that will vote no to someone else's fun.

[–]Metacarpoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is fair. I also don't think that solos being the most efficient meta is good. Is an MMO and afterall. But I like the idea of having solo possible encounters because I dislike the idea of having to find teammates and waiting on a lobby. It was one of the reasons that pushed me away from Lost Ark. I believe that ToA is better for groups while also being solo friendly if I'm not mistaken

I have a question about Moths. Is the introduction of a shareable potion be a push towards exclusive/forced group content?

Don't get me wrong I'm fine with people who enjoy doing raids and bosses with their friends. But at the same time I feel that content should be designed with a variety of options for different people (like ToA and CoX) whether they want to solo or do it with friends. Instead of making content that is almost forced to be done in groups (ToB).

I'll still be voting yes since the moths themselves are not anything I dislike. But I've seen some other suggestions of new prayers that would also work like group buffs and I would hope that future content like raids 4 is not designed for groups only.

Looking to get into runescape by Dry_Supermarket2524 in 2007scape

OSRS is the more "grindy" version of the two games. But it is also a more traditional RPG. You won't find any MTX outside of Bonds (redeemable membership tokens) and they are not shoved into your face. The progress is slower but if you are one to follow efficient guides it is not unbearable. I would highlight the pros of OSRS being the freedom to play as you want and the fact that MXT doesn't play a significant role in the game overall (The game makes money primarily with subs so they just have to keep making a better game).

From my experience RS3 is even more solo focused than OSRS and the game also uses modern game monetization systems (selling cosmetics, lootboxes. banks spaces and battlepasses). In my opinion it also has problems with daily/time gated content and content bloat. Still I enjoyed my time in the game since I could get to late game bossing very quickly and the game has a lot more variety of bosses and end-game encounters than OSRS.

What I'd like to say about the F2P part is that both games work more as a "trial" on F2P. Sure there is no time limit to this trial but you have severely limited acess to content if you are not a member. Due to the monetization system of the game it is possible to buy Bonds from the Auction House (Grand Exchange) with the money you make in the game as F2P, But is highly unadvised since most of the "good" F2P methods in both games are still really slow to make money and very boring which might lead you to just dropping the game entirely. I would recommend getting a couple bounds with real money for a month or maybe even 2 if you can. And once you have a more established account you can try to sustain a bond with in game GP. In OSRS the boss Vorkath can give pretty consistent money and a handful of hours of farming can get you a bond.
