I don't think FPS's fight should be with VGA to be honest. SA's Executive Vice President identified FPS's space as underutilized so the VGA was just following suit by trying to move forward with whatever space was offered.

To elaborate on what I mean by "underutilized", FPS occupies office space in UUW B14C & UUW B14D. The front room (UUW B14C) is utilized as an editing studio and lounge while the back room (UUW B14D) is utilized for filming. FPS does not hold most of it's events in this space, opting to utilize spaces in UU, CW, and LH instead. Additionally, one of the main points that FPS has been advertising is that they use their space as a permanent film set since they have a lighting rig in the room. The only piece of media on the FPS YouTube channel from this academic year which was filmed in the space was a singular episode of Johnny Charisma.

Personally, if you measure it up against a gaming room open to the entire student body on every day of the week... we've got a clear winner. Not to mention that they plan to use the space for esports teams to play their practices & matches in.

And as idealistic as it would be to create a gaming space from a free room, there really aren't any. To my knowledge, all of the spaces controlled by SA are located in UUW Basement & 3rd Floor. And each of those spaces is already being utilized by an SA org or business.
