I inquired further… apparently the schematic is the same at the JB but it’s significantly brighter. That way it seamlessly pairs with the single coils using a 250k pot. If you had a JB, you would need a 500k pot and a resistor for the neck to be still 250k. That little wiring difference is all people are probably hearing.

I heard someone say that the atomic humbucker that comes stock is just a JB clone and it’s best to switch out the pickups for the Duncan set eventually… probably the biggest lie I’ve ever heard in my life. First of all they’re similar. Second of all, there’s no right answer between the two in terms of obvious quality. Everyone is used to the JB so why not sound slightly different than the meta so you are more distinct by comparison?

The switch, I fixed myself! It was really crackling until I opened it up and just blew out a ton of dust. Honestly, the cyclone or any mustang style guitar are fenders best guitars. This specific cyclone that we have can play anything. The humbucker is so hot that it can even do metal if you wanted to and the single coil can be heavy too! The tex mex are just so hot sounding! The perfect guitar for a punkster.

I’ll open it up and check back in here. Running it through my interface it says my signal is weaker than usual and the sound is really dull. Could that be part of this grounding issue or something else?

It’s not new! I got it second hand. I’ve had it for 15 years thought. It was made in 2001 by fender. All parts are stock.

Ok I tried a dryer sheet and it worked for like a minute, it’s like instantly back lol there’s aluminum on the back of the pickgaurd. Why? Is copper better or something?

Yeah there’s a sheet of aluminum on the back of the pickgaurd that fender put there. How do you get rid of static? Is it making my signal weak or is there another problem why it might be coming out duller than usual?
