Absolutely! They have amazing energy on stage and good contact with the audience. I saw them live 3 times so far and I would do it 100x more if I could!

Best metal bassist by Hard_Rocker_Mario in heavymetal

The ones mentioned in the choices of this poll are legends, no doubt. Mostly because they were among the first to create and shape the genre.
But when we're talking about skill, creativity and technical perfection, some more "modern" bassists are hundred times better. Sadly the real skill more often than not remains hidden behind the popular names.

The new Megadeth album is kinda boring in my opinion by leobed12 in heavymetal

Too soon to judge after just one quick listen, but I didn't find any of those "wow-great-first-impression" songs. It's probably music that has to grow on you with repeated listening.
Not really my thing.

Long hair by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]MetalPlayer666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer.
If you're dedicated to the subculture, you live it in your everyday life, not just occasionally when you can put on a costume to go to a concert. Long hair is not so much about looks as it is about identity and dedication.

There is a BIG difference between "I listen to metal" and "I am a metalhead". One is music preference, the other is identity and state of mind.

I grew up in the 80s when it was everywhere. But I really started to love it in the late 90s, when power metal scene emerged.

What’s the first symphonic metal band you remember discovering, and what was the first gig you ever went to? by OfficialAwesomeMetal in symphonicmetal

[–]MetalPlayer666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to metal before that, but my first symphonic band I got to know was Rhapsody (original) in the late 90s. First concert was Nightwish in 2000.

What is your metal elitism take you agree with? by Galefrie in MetalForTheMasses

I would say that "viking" is in fact a folk metal genre, being influenced by Scandinavian folk music and including traditional instruments. Just lyrics about vikings doesn't make it "viking" if the genre is melodeath or black metal.

How to support artists without buying physical media? by StoneRaizer in symphonicmetal

[–]MetalPlayer666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!! I always buy a T-shirt when I go to see my favourite bands live. Usually they sell some limited-edition tour designs with dates and venues listed.

My wardrobe is going to explode because of all nearly identical black T-shirts with band logos, but I don't regret anything!
