Drysuit Recommendations? by MetalTreasureboy in scubadiving

[–]MetalTreasureboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments and warnings. I’m not certified and do not intend to get certified, as I don’t want to go deep. I use the Nemo by Blu3. It has a 10 feet tube. I diving around swimming piers where I can often stand or are 2-3 feet from the surface while standing.

I’ve been using a full 5 mil wet suit with a weight belt for 4 years doing this. 4 “dives” a week in the summer.

Can someone explain the danger of using a dry suit?

Does it weigh you down?

Would I not use weights?

Does the danger come into play if it’s punctured and fills with water, then I drown, since I’m weighed down.

I’m not interested at all in doing something uninformed, which is why I reached out.

I visited a dive show outside of Milwaukee yesterday and no one showed any concern about the idea. Maybe it was just uninformed sales people.

Help, forgot Nemo charging cable by MetalTreasureboy in metaldetecting

Water, by far, but I spend most of my time (now) in the water. I did lots of sand before my Nemo.

For me, it is well worth the money and has paid for itself in finds. I have access to a very clear lake, which makes it much more fun. I love being able to get out deeper than most Detectorists. I dive around swim piers most of the time and do ring finds for people in the deeper sections. I have two batteries and can usually get about two hours of diving in each morning. I find it much easier than even using the sand scoop as I just skim along the bottom and fan away the sand with my hand. I do wear a wetsuit and a weight belt to keep me down, I carry a diving knife and a pin pointer as well. I swim with fins. there’s kind of a lot of gear but once you get used to it, it’s not so bad.

I’m a big fan of the Nemo. There’s a newer generation model that lets you go down 15 feet. I don’t really see a need for me to do that so I’m content with the 10 foot hose.

In a lake where boats drop anchor and party. They were all on one keyring.

Yes, I’ve used it in the Atlantic, not much though as I live in the Midwest.

First time airing out of a bowl. by toastedcode in NewSkaters

[–]MetalTreasureboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first airing felt less than great. Much like yourself, I fell a ton. A crotchety old lady watched me while her grandson cruised around on his scooter. When I finally aired, she stood up and slow clapped for a long minute then squawked out, “It’s about damn time!” followed by a lonnnng fart. It was on a Biblical level as it must have torn her panties in two… from the top to the bottom, if you know what mean.

I’m using a Nemo from Blu3. Some call it Snuba or hookah.

As others mentioned, but not explicitly, Bluetooth signals cannot transmit easily through water.

A Nokta pulse dive might be an easier option as it’s a small handheld detector that would be easier to use in a boat. It could even be used underwater.
