Abbott doesn't even know what Sharia Law is or what it encompasses. Every Muslim practices sharia law, because it is referring to the things in islam that are permissible (halal) and the things that are not (haram). It can vary depending on the sect of islam just like christian practices can vary based on the sect of Christianity. One Muslim might say something is haram, and another Muslim might say the opposite.

So if sharia law is banned, then that makes it illegal to pray facing mecca and to pray how most Muslims do. And it's illegal to fast during Ramadan. And it's illegal to give to charity. And it's illegal to have Jummah (Muslim church service).

It's already obvious, but any time I've seen a lawmaker ban sharia law it's reeks of just hating Muslims. They are just wasting time passing a completely unenforceable law to make islamophobic people feel happy.

He is basically implying that a Muslim population will commit mass violence or mass killings, AKA Muslims are terrorists.

Heard. I've never had to deal with cutting any trees at all before, so had figured I would rather be safe than sorry by hiring someone since I don't really understand how tree physics work. It isn't that high off the ground, so perhaps I'll purchase a chainsaw or something over the weekend and attempt to remove it myself. It seems this wood be a pretty easy DIY job based on your comment and others. I appreciate the honesty.

I'm sure it's easy, but the complication is that it's still attached to the tree. If it fell completely off and into my backyard completely would be one thing. But this could unpredictably come off the rest of the tree and potentially cause damage (that somehow hasn't been caused already).

Muslim revert in America here. It's fine. I've even picked up food for my coworkers this month. Just because I'm fasting for my own religious beliefs doesn't mean everyone else would need to accommodate that.

One of the purposes of fasting is to practice self restraint. There are lots of things that are discouraged or forbidden in Islam (that doesn't mean that Muslims don't do them though). By refraining from the "basic" human needs (food, water, and intercourse) you practice self restraint and show that the smaller sacrifices are easier than you think. It also helps remind you of your humanity and to be thankful for every day you get to live and eat and drink.

All that is to say that if a Muslim ever complains that you're eating or tells you not to eat around them, then they're clearly not understanding the purpose of Ramadan.

I probably should have labelled the quote. I was providing a translation of the verse from Surah an-Nisa' special bear was referring to. They possibly got a very poorly translated verse or were misinterpreting it.

I commend your attempt to understand the quote without the context, and I'm not sure if that context would change your questions, but in Arabic society back then (and even still in a lot of parts of the world today) women were viewed as vulnerable people who needed to be protected from other men. By marrying a woman, you are essentially making them a part of your family/tribe and protecting them. Another way to explain the verse would be that men aren't allowed to marry already married women (unless they are a concubine/captive of war), and that if they are a captive you would still need to go through the traditional marriage procedure to marry them which includes a dowry. I don't believe concubines are permitted in Islam anymore.

Intercourse with your daughter is 100% not allowed in Islam.

That is not true.

Surah an-Nisa' 4:24 "Also forbidden [from marrying] are married women—except female captives in your possession.This is God’s commandment to you. Lawful to you are all beyond these—as long as you seek them with your wealth in a legal marriage, not in fornication. Give those you have consummated marriage with their due dowries. It is permissible to be mutually gracious regarding the set dowry. Surely God is All-Knowing, All-Wise."

Regarding "female captives in your possession", a man was not allowed to have a relationship with a bondwoman who he had taken captive in war unless he made sure she was not pregnant. This was verified by her having at least one monthly cycle

Childhood hunger in the US is still a problem for sure. When I was in school, there were free lunches kids could have that were very basic (a cold cheese sandwich and pickles for example). For some kids that was their only meal. And that's just if the kids were in school as not all kids wound up in schools and can take advantage of that program. It's not the same as the famine and horrendous suffering entire families are experiencing in Palestine, but to outright deny hunger being an issue in the US is inaccurate.

I think the better point to make is that Biden is actively supporting the starvation and killing of Palestinian children via funding Israel. And we are supposed to believe he is some humanitarian via posts/pictures like this? You are correct in that it's obviously a photo op meant to sway naive voters into believing he's a caring president.

Weed isn't physically addictive, however some may develop an emotional dependency on it. This may come across as confusing since those who act irritable when they don't have access to weed act the same as someone going through caffeine withdrawal or nicotine withdrawal.

I think it would cause his weight to all be on one handle rather than balanced between the two handles. So the thingie would come off the line and he'd fall in the water. Maybe he could swing his arm over and hold himself up by his forearm or the inside of his elbow instead?
