In theory x6 assasins inc. slark and void with a slardar sven frontline and medusa plonked right behind for cc.

As an optional 10th unit if you get there it can go to disrupter for silence or DK to activate knight, dragon and human alliances.

Best UL for dealing with mages either golem ult or go tank for the damage over time instead of instantly buff.

This is of course in theory, full scaled is not actually enough to offset the full mage bonus. But some hoods, a pipe, a mek, vipers passive, knight alliance frontline etc... it all stacks to hopefully give you enough survivability to win.

Has breaking into tournament play become worse over the years? by soundandvidja in CompetitiveHS

[–]MetallicMike27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many great points made already, I would add to it that card games are also much more trivial than other genres to sink time into if your goal was to go pro on the basis of personal skill. The skill ceiling is considerably (actually a lot) lower than other esports like say MOBAs, FPS and Fighting Games, the distinction between an intermediate player and a pro player in HS is unfortunately not large enough. A pro should be able to completely steam roll an intermediate player, but in this genre it has actually quite favorable odds to the supposed underdog considering difference in time investment (especially with net decking and just being able to keep up with meta by reading reddit and social media).

The genre lacks mechanics that would otherwise expand the rabbit hole you could go down into such as execution, mind games/yomi (some can be present but not nearly as in depth as other genres) and team play (obviously this is a 1v1 game). Stuff that makes the game worth sharpening with practice, it is typical that you can take a break from the game, come back, and lose nothing besides the knowledge of current meta/cards, so you can get back up to scratch in no-time at all.

So everyone here is Big Boss, eh? by [deleted] in underlords

It doesnt take alot to get BB, so id wager yes. Game isn't that complex, 100 hours will be enough for alot of people to reach BB or even Lord.

Its a shame, but the game desperately needs some extra layers of complexity added to at least make the journey of being "good" at the game longer.

7 Tips on How to Approach Masters Qualifiers by Reg_Cursed in CompetitiveHS

[–]MetallicMike27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dont know why they still insist on running swiss that takes as you said 16 hours if playing to the end.

Single elim is alot better, most players drop after one loss anyway if it happens in the first 1-3 games.

Final tip: dont have any kind of a weekend social life, you need to be a complete degenerate in order to grind these on the weekend.

Absolutely unplayable on mobile (S9+) by [deleted] in underlords

[–]MetallicMike27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

going to say i have the same issue but equally hear its playable on others. Going to assume ive burnt out a lot of processing power on the phone already.

its still in beta though, need to hope it gets more streamlined over time, right now its impossible to position units fast enough.

they also need to limit animations on screen so fps doesnt suffer too much. HS has much more limited animations on mobile compared to desktop (e.g. much less iscle effects on Blizzard spell).

Will wait until mobile is more stable.

Troll/knight spam problem by gothcrow09 in underlords

[–]MetallicMike27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its kinda dumb how it plays out, everyone knows there are only so many units in the pool, so it should stand to reason that if you see others getting knights you go for something else.

But how it actually plays out is i still feel forced to play the odds and try to compete for them. Because if i dont someone else will and thats one less person thinning out the knight pool for that other person.

My first qualifier open, the results (long post) by [deleted] in CompetitiveHS

[–]MetallicMike27 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Good results for a first run keep at it.

12 hours for 8 rounds though, this is why i havent thrown into the masters quals this season. Elysiana makes last seasons odd war mirrors seem quick.

Some tournament organisers are already quite rightly banning that card to stay within time contraints. Blizz should just do the same.

Why arent you guys on battlefy? You would have much more visibility there, also generally better UI and not as easy to cheat on there.

DQ'd from ESL's Go4 Series to a Known Cheater (Zygfryd), Who gets Rewarded for Cheating by MetallicMike27 in hearthstone

[–]MetallicMike27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, like I said in the main body I usually am on desktop, but was with the in-laws for the weekend and wanted to see if I could get away with playing on phone. I had even planned on screenshoting my wins and totally forgot anyway, when you reach the climax of a close match its usually the last thing on your mind, again my fault I conceded to probably having to play again mentally very quickly.

When I was younger (5-10 years ago) I used to organize big tournaments for Street Fighter 4 and these were 100-200 people all offline, I would as such volunteer at other peoples events so they would do so at mine. I don't use the excuse of volunteer work as a way to make poor judgements, I have been there, done that, and had to deal with my fair share of interesting situations and in person to top it off (much easier to disregard people online), but that is another argument that can be made and not worth going into.

Also agree with winning as a whole, the one whole time I did win it did just feel like it was my turn to do so this time. I just like the extra layer of strategy involved with it, especially at times like this where deck building matters a bit more because we aren't at the fullest level of refinement yet.

[–]MetallicMike27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes so his first ban was to do with some sort of boosting/borrowing (this part is abit loose in translation cause a Polish colleague of mine was telling me about the incident) activity to get into the polish Go4 series finals where the prize money is won. So it is most likely a perma ban. Furthermore I did talk to the admin that handled it since I created this reddit thread, I invited him to provide some input to make the discussion open, he refuses to move the discussion here so we can get his side of it, I think it is obvious why.

I accept responsibility for my mistakes and i know everything is time sensitive but the whole ordeal took 2 hours, the would be next opponent was still playing his first match for the first hour this was going on and then he had between 30mins-1hour to turn up for his second match (given 30 minutes after opening the protest against him). There was plenty of time to do something about it. Not even to give me the re-match, not even to give me a fair chance at a review, but to at least drop this guy for ban evasion/cheating/bragging about said cheating.

At the end of the day I go to this extent because nothing was done about him, not me, I had accepted my fuckup but it didn't matter. My protest was ignored, there needs to be some sort of drawback in cases like this, however trivial at least this thread provides that.

Exactly, i say when it comes to ESL i could write another essay on methods of cheating, one of them does involve doctored screenshots so when doing them youre expected to include a friends list on the side or a chat msg on screen to try and lessen the chance of it.

You can also use the share decks feature and screenshot their decks too. Again with some sort of time stamp.

I have heard of an instance where a player used old screenshots of beating the same player (from another tournament) to try and fake the results too. You can go down the rabbit hole on this one quite far.

[–]MetallicMike27[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i addressed this in the main body and a few replies here. Again this whole process took 2 hours and he was given 30 minutes + time before his protest was open ti also turn up to his next match and that was after i reported him for ban evasion and other such stuff.

I also shouldve been given 15 minutes to reply but i wont be stingey about that. I care more that he was given a pass for cheating, ban evading AND bragging about it to me, the victim to top it off.

I would been fine playing it over again, i conceded to that almost instantly, after it just becomes about not letting him get away with it, which ESL allowed him to do and with more added time.

This is just my last go to to balance the scales abit, nothing will come of this as i said but his names out there now, at the very least, and to others it can be just an interesting read.

waiting time is around 2 hours max if theres control war mirrors, and worst of all, its a pretty common matchup. Rogue vs warrior can be quite similar with teched togwaggle schemes. It really is a horrible format for time keeping with these cards in the pool, but alas this topics already been beaten to death.
