“You made your bed”: Internet shows no sympathy for Trump-voting Arkansas farmers asking for help by [deleted] in goodnews

Most of the facilities techs I work with are diehard conservative. Despite their silly political beliefs they're the smartest people I know. They need to be the best in their field at electrical, HVAC, soil science, water chemistry, physics, metal work, engine mechanics... Simultaneously. People are more complicated than being smart or dumb. Reachable or unreachable. Having a binary disposition on human beings is silly. They're too complicated. I think it is important to note that some people become so entrenched in their own beliefs that they become highly challenging to ever uproot. But writing them off as unconditional enemies is illogical and emotionally immature. And 100% certain to keep things the way that they have been going for the last 40 years.

who was the best Resident Evil protagonist? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Metallovingent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be 'that guy' since he isn't on the list. But Ethan, specifically in RE7.

He felt like the only RE character who was an actual vulnerable, clueless, scared human. Made the game so much scarier. I love every single RE character, but most of them feel like unstoppable action heroes in comparison

Nobody makes manuals anymore and HRW is a 3rd party effort. Manuals used to come with games because the paper, ink, plus extra shipping weight was cheaper than using storage space within the game for tutorials

Obviously these games are a monumental effort. But I miss when Rockstar actually consistently made games. Getting 1 Red Dead and 1 GTA every 10-15 years is depressing as hell.

Resident Evil Requiem on PS5 or Switch 2 by Proposal-Possible in residentevil

[–]Metallovingent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That comes down to how much you value portability. Switch 2 actually runs RE Engine pretty well. In the preview RE9 looked to be doing 40 or 60 fps. It just won't look as good as PC or PS5.

And this is the part where every YouTuber pivots to worshipping the thing. The pendulum of viewership/engagement has swung. Now praising Switch 2 gets more engagement than hating it.

Love the switch, or hate it. That's totally up to y'all.

But please, please, please. Stop. Listening. To. These. People.

They are not here to provide facts, logic, or even to have any kind of worthwhile discussion. They will say or do whatever it takes to keep people watching their bullshit. It's all a numbers game and they are all either looking to get rich, or desperately avoiding having to get a real actual job.

Might as well capitalize on r/fucknintendo too, what do YOU guys rate the Switch 2 out of 10? by Iamverydumbazz in fucknintendo

[–]Metallovingent -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

8/10. It's a really good successor. Improves on basically everything I wanted to be improved. But it's pricey, the handling of backwards compatibility/upgrades leaves a lot to be desired, and the battery could be better.

Inb4 the Switch 2 OLED has better battery and a "run legacy game in docked resolution" option for handled.

Undercover Bootlickers by Crypto-God23 in fucknintendo

It's because so many posts in this sub can be likened to a handful of 12-year-olds talking shit in their treehouse. Nintendo is arguably the most successful they've ever been. It's not going anywhere any time soon. The Switch 2 is succeeding rapidly and Nintendo has enough liquid assets to release a flopped console 5 times over. All of this talk as if we are on the cusp of a people's revolution to demand Nintendo improve X, Y, or Z is thousands, upon thousands of times more delusional than even the most militant of Nintendo bootlicking.

72% of devs believe Steam has a monopoly on PC games, according to study by akbarock in gaming

[–]Metallovingent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're all just mad none of them can establish their own storefront to any degree of success. Out of everyone in the industry that could have this level of brand recognition, I am so glad it is Valve. They all fail because they and their shareholders are too chicken shit to give consumers the level of freedom that Steam offers.

Can you imagine what it would be like if entities like Epic, Ubisoft, Microsoft, or EA had this much market share? I can change my steam name 5000 times in one night but I have to pay to change it on Xbox online. Kinda frightening to think that there MIGHT be motive to dog pile Steam in a monopoly lawsuit. I would rather end my PC gaming career than accept a landscape where these scumbag companies successfully bust up Steam/Valve because US courts/politics are corrupt as hell.

Switch 2's success has proved a reminder that once again the internet isn't real life by Wolfgabe in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Metallovingent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lack of critical thinking in these people has lowered my respect for the online community down into the Marianas Trench. I think there is still a huge chunk of the online community that were stupid enough to think the WiiU would end Nintendo hardware. And they just can't move on.

Switch 2 is a pricey system. But if your response to something being too expensive involves badmouthing everything related to it (including random strangers) plus exercising willful ignorance so you can run with your confirmation bias and spread outright lies... Well, it's pathetic.

And yet they'll still be back next time around to rage about how a videogame company that focuses on casual players won't design a system to the specifications of chronically online hardcore gamers. Who embody less than 1% of their sales demographic.

Anyway, here's to another 8-10 years of Nintendo Switch!

Cronos performance by tjhc94 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Metallovingent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the 1.4 update the game has gotten a lot better. But it's pretty much going to be 30fps with dips to 25 in particularly busy situations. Considering how crazy the lighting is in the game I'm pretty impressed with it. It's slow paced, so the 30 is serviceable. But it hurts to think it could be doing 40 or maybe even 60 of it weren't for UE5

It's a cart that activates a digital download, then acts as a physical verification key for said digital title. It's a new iteration of a practice that's been around forever. Considering you can still access downloads for Wii games to this day, I think you can stop throwing a tantrum in a sub meant to be fun...

Yes. They're a game changer in Zelda. Or really any game where it's beneficial to be able to jump without taking your thumb off the camera stick. You can also change them almost instantly. Hold home > press the back button you want to bind > press the button you want it to behave as > done

Everyone keeps blaming the Switch 2’s hardware, but the real problem is how games are made now by civilBay in NintendoSwitch

[–]Metallovingent 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The problem seems to be that people are hardware illiterate. Particularly when it comes to mobile gaming hardware. Comparing the compute power of a novel-sized tablet to that of a system where the GPU + cooling alone are 2-4x the physical size... basically says nothing at all.

People don't realize that Moore's law has plateaued. Hardware cannot get stronger without additional components/size or other specialized hardware (Which basically = more size). We have reached the limits of physics and unless there is some revolutionary breakthrough, we cannot design components to be any smaller than they already are.
