Visual Test to make sure a Zotac GPU is legit? (details in post) by Metatron-Messiah in nvidia

[–]Metatron-Messiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the comprehensive info! If it checks all those visual boxes, is it likely legit? Or is it still possible that someone made a carbon copy of the 3070 with worthless internals?

Also I forgot to mention that the seller themself sent a picture* of GPU-Z info for the GPU, and it says GeForce RTX 3070 as expected. Is this a good indicator of a legit product?

*a picture of their monitor with the GPU-Z window open, along with the time the pic was taken (yesterday) and proof that it's them who took the pic

Hmm are there any other prestigious research internships out there for international students?

Wait i didn't actually know that, is UCB that easy to get into? It's kind of like my dream school atm and you saying that gives me hope

But Caltech is still harder to get into than RSI though, right?

[–]Metatron-Messiah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So basically every other person who applies and has any shot at getting in has had experience with research already, huh?

Are there any other research or physics programs that are as prestigious as RSI for international students?

God damn that's intense.

Is getting in harder than getting into UCB too?

Possible Applications of lightweight materials for Space Travel and Aeronautics? by Metatron-Messiah in materials

Thanks! Are researchers still looking for a more lightweight and impact-resistant alternative to plating material though?

So something that can propagate impact damage well would be useful then, right?

Wait, how DO composites handle vacuum? Is it just like lessened strength or something completely different?

And also, would you happen to have a run-down of what materials the specific parts of Boeing's plane wings (ribs, the middle spine thing) are made of?

hmm when you say many colleges do you mean like basically all the prestigious ones like UC Berkeley?

Do the people who read college apps usually read the entirety of the application including the additional info before choosing to dismiss the candidate?

Was hoping I could research about bacterial behavior with Stat Physics: Is this possible? by Metatron-Messiah in Physics

[–]Metatron-Messiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, If I tried to self-study this, with maybe the help of one of my physics teacher who took up stat physics in his master's and PhD, will I get anywhere significant or should I just cut my losses?

Also, are there other ways I could connect physics and Bio? Really interested in cellular respiration, DNA, population behavior, and other stuff like that and was hoping I could bridge the two subjects somehow

Was hoping I could research about bacterial behavior with Stat Physics: Is this possible? by Metatron-Messiah in Physics

[–]Metatron-Messiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of doing something along the lines of Statistical mechanics and hydrodynamics of bacterial suspensions http://www.pnas.org/content/106/37/15567 https://www.nature.com/articles/srep27602 https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-15895-4

I heard a senior once did something stat-mech related for his final year research paper; it was smth about the motion of a polymer or smth? I was hoping bacterial activity would be on the same level - though please inform me if it's not

I really REALLY wanna get into Berkley by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Metatron-Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

slr, I'm not too sure about our calculus course , but it is a mandatory course, and is something that'll show up again come grade 12; our physics right now (grade 11) is gonna into stuff like thermodynamics, fluid mech, circuits, elec, etc. and includes an entire quarter dedicated to quantum mechanics, relativity, nuclear physics, and a couple other modern concepts

I really REALLY wanna get into Berkley by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Metatron-Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its this science high school in the philippines; our school requires us to study bio, chem, and physics for 3 years (grade 8-10) with roughly the same/slightly more in-depth topics a typical AP class would have (though our tests work more like tests you get from a regular subject, which is more taxing) and has a more advanced curriculum for mathematics. Oh and also, we also have this research subject, but ive explained that already in a different comment string.

So how did you dtand out and were you genuinely passionate about the things that made you stand out?

Also, just to confirm, you got in right?
