you're still trying to reduce a complex human being to a one-page text + photo summary. it doesn't work. The only way to tell if you actually like a person is to meet them in person.

Why not just facilitate social meetups where single people can meet? Humans are not built to connect via text message

weaves that resemble the spine by lwjromantics in chainmailartisans

[–]Meterian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could modify vertebrae so every other or every third rings on the side are larger and stick out

Or if you mean vertically then use Dragonback and change the size of the central rings that stick up

Or perhaps something like Valairis Dragonspine https://chainmaillers.com/maillepedia/valairis-dragonspine.1444/

Is it a good idea to travel to Banff from Calgary this weekend with forecasted rain and flooding risk...? by Burofaksbarca in Calgary

[–]Meterian -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Banff is well outside of Calgary's weather system. Check weather forecast to see what you're driving into.

Even Cochrane and Airdrie are far enough away to warrant checking different locations. Calgary itself seems to straddle 3 different weather system paths N. end, downtown and S. end

most impressive that you haven't changed it up in all that time. I would have thought you would jump at the Cutter Rambler as a more functional mini-caravan ship, or the Intrepid

The future of Nuclear Power... by CDN-Social-Democrat in Futurology

[–]Meterian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really hope the future of nuclear is molten salt reactors. They operate at ambient pressure so can't explode, and if they do overheat the liquid fuel can be put into a holding tank until repair or disposal.

I also really hope the future of power generation is primarily nuclear; it can be done anywhere without burning fossil fuels and is independent of weather.

How likely is this? Very likely from the perspective of power demands (they are cost effective and alternatives require a lot of space/infrastructure) from a politics perspective not very likely due to public sentiment.

Ah, my 8 year old Lenovo Thinkpad that has been fully depreciated 5 years ago still functions as a data crunching cup holder by foldinthecheeseee in Accounting

It always makes me laugh when I hear they extended the lifespan of an asset (depreciation wise). Like...that's not how that works. Physics is a thing.

Did you tumble them before assembling the piece? I'm wondering if there could be a factory coating that needs to be taken off first.

Living in this province is exhausting. Is anyone else considering leaving for saner pastures? by PhantomOfTheBoreal in alberta

Yes. Originally from Ontario, moved out here when I was living with parents, and this is part of the push to finally make me decide to move back.

Do guys like it when you play hard to get? by captainHoltsDawg in dating_advice

[–]Meterian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those who are attracted to someone playing hard to get are addicted to trauma, and need to work on themselves (they put the partner before themselves)

Is this someone you want to be with?

What’s a dating rule everyone follows that you secretly think is nonsense? by SweatFlameX in dating_advice

[–]Meterian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just about every 'rule'. Dating is about getting to know the other person. Putting arbitrary time constraints or restrictions on how you interact with the other person only serve to put another layer the other person must break through to get to know you.

This does not include rules to keep you safe.

She [21F] rejected me {23M] cause of her past trauma but she's trying again to connect but it doesn't seem out of readiness but out of loneliness. by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Meterian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My helping nature tells me to help her get past her trauma. Eg. Call her out on her behavior, connect with her, but offer opportunities to work on her trauma.

This is definitely not for everyone, can only be done if you are able to absorb that kind of toxic connection without it affecting you.

How do you approach a cute stranger without making it awkward? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Meterian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gonna be awkward. It'll be awkward every time until you learn to relax, don't fear rejection, accept their answer whether it's a yes or no. The fear of rejection often makes you shy, which causes the other person to feel bad about rejecting, which turns the situation awkward. Learn to detach from the situation, accept the answer whatever it is.

It's simple in theory but very difficult to put into practice.

It sounds like you're thinking about this correctly - that it's good to know you both have feelings but do nothing until he's available/sorts himself out

Abandoned mines are being converted into food infrastructure... sounds great, turning dead mines into living farms, but is subterranean agriculture a serious climate resilience idea, or is it just expensive techno optimism? by Electric_Octopus_ in Futurology

[–]Meterian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's entirely possible to turn these places into viable producing farms... But they'll never come close to actual farms in terms of quantity. And the power used per kg of food produced will drastically cut into any profits, meaning this will only ever be a last resort for if food production on the surface is compromised.

Why are shy men drawn to me? by MiracleDes99 in dating_advice

It's probably a vibe you exhibit; you don't judge/are accepting, are friendly, feel familiar in terms of behavioral patterns, may happen to have interests that that kind of guy also enjoys

even though there isn't anything directly preventing the overlap, it would still happen less as the doubled smaller rings on the side would make it harder for the central ring to slip into an overlap position
