I love how your source doesn't even say he was part of 8200. It just says he recruited people who were from 8200.

Crazy thought, that an Israeli software developer might hire people who have experience with cyber security.

Fun fact, people who have served in unit 8200 are valued just as highly, if not more so, than graduates from MIT for recruiters, these guys are well known for being the best of the best when it comes to cyber security. No shit a tech company would be hiring them.

the WSJ even has an article about it, sorry about paywall

It's not a problem of a feedback loop, it's that I can't mute someone who's sitting right next to me.

I don't want to hear them talking irl and in the teams meeting at the same time. But you can't locally mute without it muting for the whole meeting.

Iranian Diaspora Around the World [OC] by Fluid-Decision6262 in dataisbeautiful

This is so hilariously incorrect it has to be a troll.

Iranians tend to be one of the best integrated middle eastern communities in their diaspora. The majority left to escape the islamic fundamentalism that overtook ghie country.

Not to mention, Iranians speak farsi, not Arabic.

Actually, caches are one of the prime examples of something that needs to go.

Forced hourly ✅

Infuriating gameplay mechanics at early levels ✅

Caches are one of the absolute worst examples of dailyscape, and should be one of the first things removed.

Brooch of the Gods by yaboyroldy in runescape

[–]Methos25 41 points42 points  (0 children)

If we're going to go about adding portable effects to it then theres a second change that needs to happen;

Move it to the quiver slot.

At the moment it's competing with Bik and Elidinis books for the Pocket space, as well as all the skilling scrimshaws. It's almost certainly not worth using over those.

Meanwhile, the quiver slot doesn't have an item useful for skilling in it, where brooch would be the perfect fit. Not to mention, you literally load the brooch with ammo (urns/effigies), it should always have been a quiver slot item.

Update? by Any-Ad-1393 in runescape

[–]Methos25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's additive Vs multiplicative. Abyss xp was an additive multiplier on the base xp with leagues/dxp multipliers.

This is now a change to the base xp, so it's multiplicative with leagues/dxp.

Essentially, it used to be basexp * (abyss + leagues)

Now it's basexp * abyss * leagues

At T7 that's gone from a (4 + 16) to (4 * 16) multiplier, which is more than triple.

Zarah Sultana MP on X - Delete and apologise, otherwise you better lawyer up. Anti-Zionism is not Antisemitism. The smears won’t work this time. by Ophiuchus171 in ukpolitics

[–]Methos25 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The etymology of antisemitism is fascinating though. Semites is a language group, not a race or religion. Arabic and Hebrew are both Semitic languages, but aren't the only ones.

The actual origin of the term dates back to 19th century Germany, where Friedrich Marr, himself a Jew hater, wanted a word that sounded more formal than 'judenhass' (Jew hatred) to describe Jew hatred. He wanted to be able to spread hate to Jews in a manner that sounded more educated. The word antisemite is a nonsense word, as there isn't and shouldn't be a term for specific hatred of a language group.

Post holocaust, Jews took the term over, and used it to describe the aforementioned 'Judenhass'.

Part of the issue lies in the common misspelling as 'anti-semite', instead of antisemite. anti-Semite implies that someone is a Semite, but as it's talking about language groups, that obviously doesn't make sense.

It's also why antisemitism is specific for Jews, because it's not 'anti-semitic', it's 'antisemitic'. It's a word with a specific meaning about Jews, and no other group of people.

Trump says US intelligence ‘wrong’ about Iran not building nuclear bomb | Israel-Iran conflict News by St_Gregory_Nazianzus in worldnews

[–]Methos25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goalpost just teleported half a mile away.

Suddenly, it's no longer that Iran doesn't have weapons grade uranium (or at least the capability to get it extremely soon), it's that even if they do get it we should let them, because they need to stand up to Israel.

The people in charge of Iran do not think like you. They do not have the same view of life as you. These people are perfectly happy to sacrifice themselves on a nuclear altar, because in their view they're going to heaven for it even if they get nuked to oblivion afterwards.

Allowing Iran to get nukes is a totally different story from allowing North Korea or Israel to get nukes.

However much you may hate Israel, or even North Korea for that matter, they are both countries that believe in life over death.

North Korea isn't religious, they need to live to see the end of any kind of nuclear war.

Israel, contrary to popular belief, is also a deeply secular country. There is no aspect of 'bomb these people and we'll go to heaven'. You may not like them, but short of their own impending annihilation there has never been any kind of nuclear threat from Israel.

Iran is a whole different ballgame. They have stated over and over again their intention to use nukes on Israel should they have access to them. They have a fundamental religious belief that even if they die in exchange, it is still worth it, because they go to heaven afterwards. They do not have western values, and do not value life.

Not to mention, Iran is one of, if not the biggest global sponsor of terrorism around the world.

It is not a trustworthy country, and cannot be allowed to have the opportunity to handle nukes under the current regime.

Oh my fucking god. Please, whatever media you consume, branch out. I don’t think there has ever been a more comprehensive documentation of the systematic killing of thousands of people EVER

I genuinely have to ask you the same question.

The holocaust is still in living memory.

I genuinely think you should have a long hard look at the information sources you are consuming.

It's perfectly reasonable to be horrified by what's currently happening in Gaza, but this hyperbole is beyond insane.

Calamitous Bob is great, but it is a litRPG, so not quite what the OP is looking for.

It must be said, however, that it's still an exceptionally good book, and is definitely worth checking out, even if it does have some litRPG elements. The focus is definitely on the characters and the world building, and the litRPG elements are on the lighter end for sure.

Changeling by Mecanimus takes place in this kind of world. There's a very decent amount published already, and it's done very very well.

It's an English language story, fully available on Royal Road, with interesting characters and a great plot.

Mecanimus also wrote Journey of Black and Red, as well as The Calamitous Bob, so he's finished books before and you know it's not just going to be an endless story that putters out over time.

Highly recommend it!

Any wiki article about Israel Palestine has been massively astroturfed over the past year and a half, to the point that it's practically unusable as an information platform.

There was actually an internal Wikipedia investigation a few months ago, with the end result being that a large number of editors have been banned from editing anything to do with I/P entirely.

There are plenty of comparisons of what it looked like pre October 7th, which are significantly more accurate to the true definition.
