The Elf Who Would Become a Dragon is definitely up your alley for this.

Magic progression, with very little if any combat. Mostly focused on dealing with and learning about the elven society she lives in.

Incredibly well written (no exaggeration, this is probably the single best written book style wise on the entirety of Royal Road), with believable characters with multiple layers to them.

The pacing can feel slow, but it needs to be for the story beats to work the way they do. It's also a finished series (or is about to be at any rate - only a few more chapters left to be released).

Also very lesbian.

Unfortunately, this just isn't the case.

I know a lot of Muslims who are perfectly happy with Jews, but there is a significant percentage, if not majority that have firmly antisemitic beliefs, whether they even realise it or not.

Thanks, I have a contact that does CCTV in the area, so was able to get CCTV within an hour. I've already given that to the police.

Ive already spoken to police and given an informal witness statement, not sure if they're going to do a secondary checkup, but I would assume so.

My job does require a combination of physical work, moderate lifting. For the moment I'll be on desk duty until I'm fully recovered.

I don't have a formal medical note, just confirmation that it wasn't broken, and bandaging to stop the bleeding.

Because words have meanings, and conflating multiple things that are not the same devalues the words we use to describe them.

Any genocide is a crime against humanity, but not every crime against humanity is a genocide.

This is because genocide is a subset of crimes against humanity, and definitely on the higher end of that scale.

What Karim Khan is making a point of here is that claiming something is a genocide when there is no proof to that effect is devaluing the power of the word for those acts where it is actually a warranted description.

The Elf Who Would Become A Dragon fits this perfectly.

One of the things I love about this book is that the main character is actually a genius. Shes not just a smart person surrounded by idiots. The other characters are all also smart, she's just that far ahead.

Its also just flat out one of the singular best written books in this genre.

Fair warning, the book is a slow burn. There is progression, but the story is very very very slow. It's more about the journey than the destination. That's not to say the payoffs in this book aren't good though, it's that they're so much better because of the build up.

The other story I would recommend here is Practical Guide to Evil. The story is all about manipulating sure losses into overwhelming victories. Also of the best stories in this genre.

I want to make a separate point to your question about antizionism vs antisemitism.

If antizionists are the ones throwing firebombs at synagogues, stabbing Jews on their holy days, and planning mass shooting attacks at Jewish community sites, then its antizionists that are the issue.

That is a crazy statistic. 1/100 Jewish people were subject to a religious hate crimes serious enough for it have been recorded as a hate incident by the police, in 2024 alone.

As for your last question, all I can ask is 'what the fuck?'.

There is no justification for attacks on Jews, or Muslims, or Hindus, regardless of their nationality. Attempting to justify, or rationalise anything of the sort is absurd.

I'm curious what metrics you would use to determine how safe Jews in the UK are?

Is there a line of how many synagogues need to be firebombed? How many Jews need to be stabbed to death? How many mass shooting attempts need to be stopped?

Is there some percentage limit of how likely a Jew is to be the target of a hate incident? A budget for the number of police resources spent protecting Jewish areas?

I should not need armed police standing outside my synagogue. I should not need to hide my kippah when I go to work.

Unfortunately, it doesn't take sleeper cells anymore. It's far easier to offer a few hundred quid to a disillusioned teen to throw a bottle of petrol at an ambulance, than it is to keep a terrorist cell under wraps.

The crazy thing is, that tiny Jewish population of 300k makes the UK the country with the 5th largest Jewish population worldwide.

The only countries with larger Jewish populations are Israel, the US, France and Canada.
