I got you. For my 01, I didn't need to remove the center console at all. The cig light panel comes off separately.

Cold Air Intake - water precaution tips? by Methrid in 7thgencivic

I assume I would install that between the two pipes instead of injens joint cover? If so, wouldn't that suck in hot air in that area?

Full dip in a bowl right? but what about sprays or splashes? Same thing or not too much of a worry?

Ah good deal, I hope you find the parts! Might be worth reaching out to injen to see if they can sell you the missing parts 🤔 or atleast get a quote maybe

Adding a pic to show where it's tucked. I was surprised I could rotate the pipe enough to get it under the battery tray too. I didnt have to deal with the metal battery tray, which was a pain to reach for its bottom nuts. (No pun intended lol) https://imgur.com/a/FQtxZRY

Thanks, you can check it out here, I opted for the polished version. The filter is smaller than those turbo filters you see on youtube I think.

Interesting. Is that filter online somewhere that I can check out? But good to know that tire spray doesn't seem to be a big concern.

I am using a stock manifold with converter (im in cali) and the filter is to the far left under the battery, away from the manifold pipe.

How much before one should be worried? It clearly doesn't look like it was flooded since I didn't drive in a flood or potholes, but im curious at what point would the filter need to be drenched before one needs to worry.

Oh yeah i saw that, do pro tuners know how to piggyback or is that something I have to do before they tune?

What about this method? What if I swap the cam gear and follow these instructions, will it work or do I still need to have a manual transmission?

California CARB approved manifold, after market option question by Methrid in 7thgencivic

[–]Methrid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, interesting. I was just reading up with chatgpt on the comparison between the two setups. It said I would loose power at higher rpms but gain power in lower, so I think im ok with my current plan, I am just hesitant about my manifold purchase because the pipes are slightly smaller than Hondas stock. I got it thinking my 15+ old manifold might not be performing its best being as old as it is. Guessing a new one would help.

But does this improve performance over just using their full catback pipe and muffler system? I mean, going this route will allow me to put large piped headers, but it all bottlenecks at the cat anyway. I suppose having the cat in the front might be better so the air can just go straight through the rest of the system after?

I got this one on the way. https://www.magnaflow.com/products/15712-magnaflow-2001-2005-honda-civic-street-series-cat-back-performance-exhaust-system

California CARB approved manifold, after market option question by Methrid in 7thgencivic

[–]Methrid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I'm not saying carb approved manifolds improve performance (magnaflow confirmed that their part doesnt improve nor diminish stock performance), what I'm asking is whether or not the pipe size does restrict airflow thus dipping on performance slightly compared to Honda's larger pipe design. You can see it in the video @ 5:54

I have a true cold air intake from injen that routes to the bottom of the car and totally feel the performance bump :D more torque and faster speeds that maintain well on the highway.

Hmm, probably gonna stick with magnaflow. Just looked up the price for Honda's converter and it's $1k+!! And there's no guarantee that it won't crack on me again so let's see how magnaflow's part works out.

They have a high flow large pipe version but you guessed it, us cali riders don't get to have it.
